not happening for this traveler
Unfortunately the air conditioning was so loud with motor noise it was unusable! The safe was inoperable and didn't shut. the water was BARELY lukewarm and I was feeling quite ill and couldn't use it for 2 nights. I couldn't get a Belikin (national beer)at dinner and the bar didn't have any soda water in the bar. The breakfast was sad and the second morning they didn't have any EGGS at 8 30, only soggy waffles. Couldn't make any local calls from the room and tried to with the front desk as directed and that failed also. Lots of exterior noise with late night casino people in the neighborhood, and loud cars racing and fireworks to top it off. Bailed and went to Golden Bay down the street and it was great

2/10 Poor

The pictures do not convey the poor condition of the hotel. The 3 star rating by Hotels.com is ridiculous. My room was as promised a king bed. The door to the room is so warped it would only open half way and you could see light through cracks that have developed from weather. No in room coffee. I skipped the morning shower as the water only luke warm. The location is not in a safe place to go take a walk off the grounds imo. Half the food on the restaurant wasn’t available. I was a little early for check in and sat in the bar waiting for service. Nothing for 20 minutes so I left for the lobby. The room hasn’t been updated for 50 years. Getting to the hotel by cab was kind of an adventure as well. I won’t be back to Belize City and I must reconsider whether I should trust Hotels.com!

Good Experience Overall
Was nervous after reading some of the really bad reviews I saw, but was pleasantly surprised after check-in. Room had sea view, wifi worked, air conditioning a bit loud but working well, room was clean, had a proper desk to work on lap top, TV worked well and had movie channels in English, comfortable beds, everything worked in bathroom. They also offered a tour desk downstairs which I took advantage of. Breakfast was very average but included in room price so ok. Biggest negative was the pool - area ok and nice big pool, but they had huge speakers blasting music so loud that it was impossible to stay there. I like music loud but this was ridiculous and at a level that I could not stand and walked away.

Old, run-down, but safe
In spite of many bad reviews, we needed a place to stay after vacationing on Caye Caulker before our flight home and this was the only hotel we could find near the ferry and airport. The reviews are accurate, this is a very old, run down hotel. The pool looked clean enough, but many times around the pool are broken to the point of being dangerous. There was a dead bird there near the entrance to the game room that looked like it had been there for at lease a few days and what was once either a kids pool or jacuzzi we completely overgrown and gross. But the room was clean enough and we felt safe and comfortable sleeping there. The restaurant looked deserted, so we went next door to the pizza place for dinner and that was nice, food was good, lots of local families there. The staff seemed to be doing their best. This is not a place for a vacation, but if you need a place to sleep in transition to somewhere else, it’ll do.

It has an amazing view until you go around the property and see some building issues. But the staff was nice (except for one waitress). But I wouldn’t mind staying there again.

Our stay was overall ok. The hotel facility is a little run down and in need of a facelift. The most annoying feature of the stay was the hotels strict enforcement of the check-in time which was not until 3pm as well as having to vacate the room by 10am the next day. The hotel was virtually empty as we were here at the end of September (off season) and despite this the hotel showed not the slightest flexibility with the check-in and checkout times.

You get what you pay for with this property! I was a little surprised how outdated this property is., nothing like the pictures on the site. Staff was nice, the food was not all that great! Not much to do around there, rental car is a must.
