Family trip to hike slot canyons
We had a great say at the Lake Powell Resort after spending the afternoon hiking Buckskin Gulch in nearby Utah. The hotel has incredible views of Lake Powell and watching the sun come up over the lake in the morning was awesome. We had dinner at the hotel, which was excellent and the staff could not have been more helpful and friendly. Especially Janet who took care of us at dinner. If you are in the area and need a place to stay, and want amazing views, comfort and friendly and helpful staff, this is the place to stay.

A place to sleep
It’s an ok motel. If you get the “standard” room in building 3 it’s tired. Avoid a room on the second floor if you want to sit on the patio and enjoy the view as the patio wall is too tall to sit. Avoid a room on the first floor if you don’t want to hear what’s going on upstairs (there’s only 2 floors), so pick what’s important to you. In the off season, restaurant service is almost non existent. The employees were polite enough. The restaurant check system has serious flaws.

Don’t go there
Reception not friendly. Old smelly place. Needs renovation. Paid for room with view but balcony wall so high if you sit on balcony you only see the wall.

Good and bad
Pros: Great location with a couple of food options. Convenient to book boat tours and rent boats. Parking is close to rooms.
Cons: If you sit on your balcony, you have a view of a wall. You have to stand up for a view unless you’re over 6’ tall I suppose.
The towels are just awful. They’re old, stringy and rough. The soap dispenser in the shower dispensed a minimal amount of soap. Bring your own soap. Everything in the room looked a bit worn and there were bugs in the bathroom light fixture. If you’re expecting a luxury room, this is not it.
