It’s okay
The line at the hotel to check in was insane, there was no rhyme or reason. I stood in that line for an hour attempting to be checked in, only to be told there was a separate check in for the select area. I was then escorted there, took another 30 minutes to check in there. There was absolutely no order to things. The beach access was iffy at best, and the room was basic. Not anything to write home about for mid two hundred dollar a night resort. Working the tv without instructions was a bit tricky, and the phone in the room was dead. The alcohol there was the cheapest no name stuff you can get, so if you want a hangover, go for it. Most of the staff were perfectly friendly, which did help. The bed was comfortable, and the AC was great. The beach its self was very nice, and it appeared there were plenty of food options. Word to the wise, be careful what you eat there. Over all, I wouldn’t book a long term stay there, but for a couple of nights, it’s not bad.

Overrated
Review of La Casa Marina - Select I recently stayed at La Casa Marina - Select, and while there were a few positive aspects, my experience overall left much to be desired. Positives: The hotel’s cleanliness stood out. Both the rooms and public spaces were well-maintained, and the overall atmosphere was peaceful. Additionally, the beach was a highlight—clean, serene, and perfect for relaxation without the typical crowds. Negatives: Unfortunately, there were several disappointing aspects. First, the check-in process was poorly managed. Despite our reservation request for two rooms close by, this was not accommodated, which was frustrating. The food was another letdown—it lacked variety and became repetitive quickly, offering little to look forward to at mealtime. One of the most frustrating experiences was with the housekeeping team. They would knock once and immediately enter without waiting for a response, which felt intrusive and uncomfortable. Adding to the inconvenience, the phone in the room didn’t work, meaning any request or communication with the front desk required physically walking there or using WhatsApp, where responses were slow at best. Overall, I’ve had much better service, food, and entertainment at other resorts in Puerto Plata. Compared to those experiences, La Casa Marina - Select in Sosúa did not meet my expectations and was not worth the price. Unfortunately, I wouldn’t recommend staying here and likely won’t return.

La comida es mala, en el buffet mucha variedad pero muy mal cocinada, mal sabor. Creo que deben hacer un esfuerzo y buscar chefs que sepan cocinar bien porque las habitaciones son muy buenas y sus instalaciones buenas pero la calidad en la comida es pésima, tu sales a divertirte, a descansar y disfrutar de buena comida y tragos pero en estos se quedaron muyyy cortos. Es una pena.

No many options to eat at buffet, do not even bother to go to the Mexican restaurant, international cuisine was the best option about food but they made me change my reservation to another day to do something special for my husband’s birthday and they didn’t check the reservation notes when we got there we felt rushed instead so nothing enjoyable about that. There was a humidity smell in the room to be one of their premium rooms the cleanliness wasn’t at its best.

My husband and I stayed in the adults only area, swimming up room for 5 longest days ever. Husband ended up in the emergency room. The humidity it’s terrible, room always wet and clothed and furniture as well. The food it’s the same every single day, the a la Carta restaurant the worse. Shows boring. Overall, so far, one of the worst in the area I’ve been. Too expensive for what they offer. The view it’s the only good thing about this resort.

The view was great. Small beaches in coves is nice and private, but not great for swiming. Pools were ok. Water was clean, but pools need some work. Room was great. bed was very firm, but i don't mind that. TV was super small. No hot water in the shower, it did get warm at least. Food was not very good. very limited selection. not great quality. Staff was as good as any other place I've been in DR.
