We loved the family atmosphere, such a neat vintage place. The owners are very nice and helpful with information of things to do in the area.

New owners trying to update but the rooms need some TLC. Clean but musty smelling. Pool was excellent.

While there were areas where it was clear that an attempt was made, the overall impression was that it was unclean and not well maintained. Guests were required to pay for ice. A communal open access to linens and supplies may have good intentions, but is ill advised in a time of COVID-19. The location was far from where we intended and not handy to restaurants or grocery stores.

Nightmare
The room was filthy! A big spider 🕷 living in the corner of celling no toilet paper except the end of a roll . No soap except for pump on vanity. Towels pitiful use to be white but then with brown stains . Sheets alfull pillows the same . We just stayed that one night and we checked out after we saw all conditions. We slept in our cloths and at 5:30 am we were out of there . And I had a deer tick on my calf . It’s a fish camp not a lodge . Drunk men all hanging out at the door it was terrible!!!!!

Unfortunately when we arrived it was dark and the roads getting there are steep and winding, or we would have left. I was told once we arrived, not earlier when i spoke to them, that the room we booked through expedia was a rustic room, not updated like the others. That was very true, stained, gross carpet, old paneling, old bedding, cabinets in disrepair, rusty bathroom sink, etc., but that's not the worst of it. The towels left in the bathroom were very stained and looked to have recent makeup wiped off on them, face powder, not mascara, so should not have been a stain. Stained washcloths, so we didn't even shower. Then, at 3:30 am, a large critter jumped off the desk beside where we were sleeping and ran across the room. It was large and loud. We got up at daybreak and left, after my husband cleaned the coffee maker and pot so he could have coffee for the road. The people running the place were very nice when we checked in, and we can stay just about anywhere for a night, but these unrenovated rooms should not been rented.

The service was excellent. The caretaker's treated us like family and were friendly and helpful. This place is quirky, unpretentious and relaxing, perfect for families - almost like staying at a an uncle's place on the lake. We were even shown where to get extra linens and towels if we needed them. Chairs outside the rooms were perfect to take in the lake or just sit and visit. There were paddle boats, picnic areas and BBQ's for cookouts - just remember to bring your own groceries. We LOVED it's remote location - away from the big hotels, and the noise of the interstate. Listening to the crickets, surrounded by lightening bugs, while sitting on the ed

The view was amazing! The room had an odor and we had to buy candles and air freshener. We brought two pets which we had on leashes at all times, however the owners pets were running loose and barking and running toward our dogs every time we left the room. We had to carry or dogs in and out to the car.

This lodge is located at a very picturesque location on Beaver Lake. It’s full of friendly people. If you are looking for four star amenities, this is not for you. They provide the basics. I assume most people go there on vacation and bring most of the basic comforts of home. I truly enjoyed unplugging and staying at Tanglewood. It’s a lodge not a major hotel chain.

Our Visit to Tanglewood 5-21
Generally, it was a good stay; but it would've been a lot better if we brought a boat. There are a couple of paddle boats, (but only one that works well), and kayak and some other standup floatation devices. The staff was friendly, and gave us a very good deal on their suite. You must remember to bring your own food and refreshments, shampoo and conditioner. A really nice stay though. We had fun despite the lousy weather.

Holly is an amazing person who hosted us at the lodge. It was completely empty so my family and I had the entire place to ourselves. We were on the very edge of the lake and despite it being winter season, we went out to enjoy the water in a pedal boat gratuitously provided by Holly. This lodge is, in our opinion, a winter wonderland and for all those who came to love it for their summer destinations, please consider coming during the wintee season. You wont regret it.

It's wonderful being right on the lake. You can even build a fire right out front of your room! We loved getting out there in the kayaks they had on site.
