8/10 Very Good

Showa-Era charm in lovely surroundings
We had a very pleasant stay for two days here. The staff were wonderfully friendly. The place itself is a bit dated, but has a certain Showa-Era charm. Personally I found the futons a bit thin. The breakfast buffet — mainly Japanese, but with a few western options — was very good. The only real drawback in the morning was the lack of coffee, which was not available in the rooms or at the buffet, only in the lobby lounge, and for an additional fee. We got dinners included, and no real complaints (particularly about volume, of which there was plenty), although my wife found much of the food a bit more cooled than she expected. The views from the rooms and open baths were beautiful. The large public baths in the original building were a bit aged, but the ones in the new annex were very nice, including an especially pleasant wooden outdoor bath. Overall we enjoyed our stay very much. We stayed with two small children, which was fine, but this was maybe not the best choice for really little kids.
