Learn more about Tamarindo
Catch perfect waves on Tamarindo Beach where surfers of all levels ride alongside locals who've mastered these Pacific swells for generations. After conquering the ocean, watch leatherback turtles nest at nearby Marino Las Baulas National Park during their seasonal migration. The beachfront promenade buzzes with open-air restaurants serving fresh ceviche and tropical cocktails as the sun sets. Book a catamaran cruise to spot dolphins playing in the golden afternoon light. Beyond surfing, try zip-lining through the rainforest canopy or horseback riding along Grande Beach's pristine shoreline. Despite its popularity, quiet corners still exist – ask about Playa Langosta for a more secluded stretch of sand away from the main tourist flow.

Hotel Arco Iris
"This is the perfect location for visiting Tamarindo!!! Away from the trafficked area, but easily accessible to all Tamarindo has to offer. Henry was very friendly, informative, and professional. The staff from breakfast were amazing and the food, from the flavor to the amount, was amazing. One of the best quality for price ratings should be given to this location."

Zulu Surf Hotel
"My family of 5, rented 3 rooms at the Zulu Surf hotel, everyone gives it 5 stars. All slept well on the comfortable beds, Staff was friendly and helpful. Not a lot of amenities, but we were not expecting any. But there was coffee, and games to play on a covered patio with a nice breeze. Conveniently next door to a wonderful pastry and restaurant, plus a food court. The beach was a very short distance, 5 minute walk. Lots of shops to browse, and plenty of restaurants up and down the street. Tamarindo is convenient if you wish to do activities life Iguana surf lessons and surf camp, zipline and ATV, a bit further you have Chris Diving, my family went with Chris, his family worked hard and patiently and took a lot of time to get one family member through anxiety and panic attacks, Lessons taught in the pool the day prior. 18 and 15 years old's, dove like pro's. The neighborhood felt safe and we were comfortable letting the 18 and 15 year old to wonder the main road at night. I can't recommend this charming hotel enough! Felt like home rather then a hotel."
Occidental Tamarindo - All Inclusive

- Book for the cheapest times: Tamarindo offers affordable travel opportunities, particularly for those looking to explore on a budget. The period from September to November is ideal for budget-friendly visitors, as hotel prices may drop to lower prices, making it a great value for money destination. When visiting Tamarindo, it is recommended to spend at least 3 to 4 days to fully appreciate its cultural and historical attractions. You can enjoy a variety of experiences, including surfing, beach outings, sunsets, sea views, nature walks, wildlife spotting, hunting, camping, boating, and dining.
- Look for last-minute deals on Hotels.com: By visiting Hotels.com's DealsOpens in a new window section, you may discover discounted rates on Tamarindo hotels, while the Last-Minute Deals section could offer opportunities for savings as your travel date approaches. Additionally, Hotels.com's Smart Shopping tool, available via the app, allows you to compare hotel prices and amenities, ensuring you are more likely to be first notified of any price drops or available rooms for your last-minute getaway.
- Be flexible with dates: Prices may vary according to factors such as the hotel's location, star rating, and time of year, so being flexible with your dates might help you save on your stay in a Tamarindo hotel. For those seeking a distinctive experience, boutique hotels often provide a more personalised service and, on occasion, could offer better value. When you book with Hotels.com, we will inform you if the price for your chosen dates is above or below the average, and if it is on the higher side, we may suggest more affordable dates to help you potentially find a more attractive deal.
- Consider your location: Hotels in proximity to the city centre usually come with a higher price tag. However, thanks to Tamarindo’s excellent public transport links, you may discover a more affordable independent hotel slightly further afield that remains well connected. For those interested in exploring alternative, less crowded neighbourhoods or even lesser-known nearby towns, there is often excellent value for money. Opting for these alternative destinations might provide a more authentic and budget-friendly experience.
