We were in one of the rooms in a converted building at the back of the pub. And it was lovely. Beautifully decorated, comfy bed, lovely shower room. It was delightful. Staff were really helpful, and breakfast was fabulous. We will certainly return.

One night stay at The Gillygate

Stayed for one night. The room we got facec the road but it was not noisy. The location was superb because it was walking distance to many tourist places. Many restaurants & shops nearby. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Parking was very limited but no extra charges.

Room OK, room 8, quiet in annex at rear of building. Comfortable bed and good night's sleep. Reception friendly, but bar closed when I returned, despite being told it would be open. Mediocre breakfast, unfriendly service. Only rubbish instant coffee and no vegetarian option for full breakfast. Walk-ins have between 09:00 and 12:00, whilst hotel guests only have between 09:00 and 09:30. I presume this is to facilitate the unreasonably early checkout time of 10:00. Poor value for what I paid, but not worth a formal complaint. I wouldn't stay here again.

The room we stayed in was a double in the courtyard. It suited me and my husband as only for 2 nights, bed was comfy and seemed bigger than a double that was advertised. Bathroom is small, shower was excellent, and you don't need to bring soap, shower gel or shamphoo as small bottles are provided. Complimentary tea, coffee, hot chocolate and biscuits, which is always nice. Staff are lovely and helpful, breakfast is good. Well worth a visit x

Not the best welcome when we arrived. Breakfast better on 2nd day, ladies serving breakfast were lovely and friendly. Bathroom left a lot to be desired there was black mould on the walls, ceiling and shower. The toilet seat was loose and there were cracks in the porcelain. The bedroom curtains were mouldy and the secondary glazing was held open by a wooden block. Nice clean and comfy bed room of a good size.
