Controlling mass crowds for 24 hours, I noticed they are doing excellent job. Inside the kabbah pilgrims get too emotional and forget to respect that other pilgrims are also waiting to go as near as Hajre Aswad. There should have alternate solutions.

Makkah was beautiful always and was very clean, all thanks to the people who take care of the Masjid and keep it running during such a busy visitor season. December was packed with visitors from around the world, but they did great in hosting.

Spiritual Experience: The highlight of my visit was, of course, the Masjid al-Haram and the Kaaba. Being in the presence of such a sacred site was a deeply moving experience. The atmosphere was filled with devotion and reverence.

It is the holiest city in Islam, 1 prayer in Haram mosque equal 100 000 prayers in normal mosque.

Makkah is quite singularly a religious destination for 'umrah or Hajj. It is always crowded with pilgrims so just pack a lot of patience and grace when visiting. Everything takes time and there are often re-routes. Stay at nearby hotel if possible.

Used to be good, but too crowded these days. Hard to navigate around and inside mosques.
"Everything about this hotel was really good — the distance from Masjid al-Haram, the cleanliness, the security — everything was great. The only problem we had was with the bathroom. There was a drainage issue, and water kept coming up and flooding the shower. Also, they hadn’t noticed that the shampoo and soap had run out, which was inconvenient because I was already wet and ready to shower when I realized there was no shampoo or body wash."
