Downtown Bar Harbor charms visitors with its scenic Shore Path hugging Frenchman Bay's sparkling waters. Historic mansions and Victorian buildings house waterfront restaurants serving fresh lobster on ocean-view patios. The Village Green hosts seasonal festivals while the harbor buzzes with whale-watching boats against Acadia's stunning backdrop. Browse boutique shops selling Maine-made crafts along cobblestone streets. Getting around is a breeze in this compact, walkable downtown. Most hotels feature historic charm with wraparound porches and harbor views. The free Island Explorer shuttle connects to Acadia National Park when you're ready to explore beyond the village streets.
Hulls Cove
Hulls Cove serves up stunning Frenchman Bay views just minutes from downtown Bar Harbor. This quiet coastal community is the gateway to Acadia National Park, with the visitor center packed with trail info and local exhibits. Stroll the rocky shoreline where lobster boats bob in the harbor, or head straight to Acadia's magnificent trails. Classic Maine architecture with cedar shingles and white trim completes the quintessential coastal scene. Life here moves at a relaxed pace with minimal commercialization keeping the authentic Maine character intact. Most dining options require a 10-minute drive to Bar Harbor, though seasonal food trucks sometimes appear. Vacation rentals and cozy bed & breakfasts make perfect home bases for exploring the natural beauty that dominates this peaceful area.

Stone Haven
Stone Haven offers a peaceful retreat from the bustle of Bar Harbor with its tree-lined streets and classic New England architecture. The neighborhood features charming bed & breakfasts and vacation rentals in converted 19th-century homes rather than commercial establishments. Travelers typically stroll 10-15 minutes to downtown Bar Harbor for dining and shopping, making Stone Haven ideal for those who appreciate historic charm and tranquility.

Lobster rolls compete for attention with Acadia National Park's granite peaks, visible from almost every corner of town. The Shore Path offers front-row views of sailboats bobbing in Frenchman Bay while locals share tales of the 'rusticators' who built summer mansions here. At low tide, walk the temporary land bridge to Bar Island before the sea reclaims it. After whale watching tours return to harbor, grab a table at one of the waterfront restaurants where servers can tell you exactly which boat caught your dinner. The Village Green hosts evening concerts, while Cadillac Mountain in Acadia rewards early risers with what's often the first sunrise view in America. Don't miss popovers at Jordan Pond House – a tradition since Victorian times.

Holiday Inn Resort Bar Harbor - Acadia Natl Park by IHG
"Excellent accomodations"
Days Inn Bar Harbor
"I cannot figure out why this hotel did not receive a much higher rating on trip advisor or other rating platforms. The staff was terrific- friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean, the bed very comfortable and the coffee-maker and fridge were a nice addition. The continental breakfast was generous and had a number of options, helping us avoid having to find a restaurant each morning and allowing us to get into the park each morning before the crowds. The location was perfect- right near both Bar Harbor and the park. We would definitely stay here again."
Anchorage Motel
"Front desk staff who was from Jamaica for the summer (Michelle?) is so nice and helpful. The individual who checked us out, very gruff, completely different experience. Love that it was so convenient to walk to town. And that they served Carrabansett Acadia coffee, very community-oriented. I've recommended to others, and we'll be back!"
