Frogner’s boulevards, lined with upscale stores and elegant townhouses, reflect the aristocratic origins of this western Oslo neighborhood. Frogner Manor has been home to many of Norway’s wealthiest citizens, and its picturesque parkland is now open to all, while the museum boasts an important photographic collection and a vast library.
The grounds of the manor, known as Frogner Park, host the Vigeland sculpture installation, which comprises over 200 bronze and granite sculptures by celebrated Norwegian artist Gustav Vigeland. In nearby Nobels Gate, the work of this sculptor, who designed the Nobel Peace Prize medal, is showcased in his former home.
