Learn more about Taormina

Ancient Greek ruins stand sentinel above the Ionian Sea, where the Teatro Antico offers views that might make you forget there's a performance scheduled. Corso Umberto buzzes with cafes where locals debate which gelateria truly deserves your euros. Take the aerial tramway down to Isola Bella, a tiny island nature reserve where the pebbled beach demands proper footwear but rewards with crystalline waters. The Piazza IX April serves as an open-air living room where everyone gathers at sunset. After climbing narrow medieval streets, reward yourself with pasta alla Norma and cannoli that make a compelling argument against ever leaving Sicily. The San Giorgio Theatre hosts performances in a setting so intimate you'll feel part of the production.

"This hotel is magical. Right on the beach with plenty of beds and helpful lifeguards. Even though hotel is dated and belongs to another era, its beautify lies in its antiquity. 8/10 Good
"This hotel is situated just on the edge of the main city on an unbelievably beautiful cliff in Taormina overlooking the beaches and bays below. Really breathtaking views - highly recommend splurging for the balcony. The pool was also very pretty, though we did not end up eating or drinking poolside. The bedrooms/bathrooms were pretty basic, but clean. Breakfast was not included, but at 22 euro, we did not partake. ***The one thing to note - the entrance to the hotel is at the bottom of an incredibly steep, roughly 250 foot-long hill. I'm talking 30-40 degree incline. There are stairs in the center of the road, but it's a hike. Like, we were out of breath every time we left the hotel. I couldn't recommend this hotel to anybody with mobility issues that is not planning on being driven from the hotel entrance every time they travel.*** But the views are unbeatable."

4 tips for savvy savings when booking a hotel in Taormina

  1. Book for the cheapest times: The most affordable time to visit Taormina is during January, February, and December, when hotel prices may drop to lower prices. A stay of at least 3 to 4 days is ideal for exploring the town’s key historical landmarks, monuments, and cultural attractions, including entertainment venues, theatres, cafes, the beach, sightseeing spots, the sea, dining experiences, and ancient ruins. This period is perfect for travellers on a budget who are seeking great value for money while enjoying a rich blend of history, culture and natural beauty in a budget-friendly setting.
  2. Look for last-minute deals on Hotels.com: Hotels.com offers a range of options for travellers seeking savings to Taormina. You may discover discounted hotels by visiting the DealsOpens in a new window section, while the Last-Minute Deals area could help you secure a room close to your travel date. By enabling email alerts or push notifications, you'll be more likely to see flash sales and price drops. The Smart Shopping tool within the app allows you to compare hotel prices and amenities, ensuring you can make an informed decision when booking a last-minute getaway.
  3. Be flexible with dates: Prices may vary depending on factors such as the hotel's location, star rating, and time of year, so being flexible with your days could help you save on your stay in a Taormina hotel. For those seeking distinctive accommodations, boutique hotels might offer a more personal experience and sometimes better value. When you book with Hotels.com, we will inform you if the price for your chosen dates is above or below average, and if it appears higher, we may suggest alternative dates that could help you secure a more appealing rate.
  4. Consider your location: Hotels in proximity to the city centre generally incur higher costs, but thanks to Taormina's superb public transport connections, it is possible to discover a more affordable independent hotel further afield that remains well connected. For those keen to explore alternative, less crowded neighbourhoods or even lesser-known nearby towns, there is often excellent value for money. Opting for these alternative destinations could provide a more authentic and budget-friendly experience.
