Little gem and great breakfast.
We chose to stay here for one night, due to the need for parking and found the location to be perfect, as it was easy to find and only 10 minutes walk up to the old town (up quite a few steps!). There is a lovely ambience and the traditional decor is just gorgeous, with a great view of Etna from the huge windows at the end of the hallways and over the sea from our balcony. Staff are very friendly and helpful with local knowledge, which was very useful for our drive back through the mountains towards Cefalu. One recommendation, do not miss the amazing breakfast, with plenty of choice and cakes, cakes, cakes! We did not need to eat again until the evening! All served by an incredibly jolly and attentive waiter. All in all, this hotel is a little gem and we would have happily stayed a little longer if we had more time.

Good
The location of the hotel was very good with fantastic views but the room was quite spartan and the bed incredibly hard. The sound from other rooms above and to the side echoed through the whole building and, although the terrace had a fantastic view, it was not very private. The waiter at breakfast was charming and friendly but when we checked out, the man at reception (we think he was the owner) was talking to a member of staff and just ignored us as he took the key, without saying thank you, wishing us a nice day or asking if we had enjoyed our stay.

Very good
It was like stepping back in time - a beautiful view and grounds; delicious and extensive breakfast buffet served by a gracious host (espresso if you ask for it); parking, and peace a quiet. Short walk to restaurants. Somewhat dated, but that was part of its charm. Get a sea view room.

Could not wait to leave
I want to say that the gentleman running breakfast (I believe his name is Sebastiano) is a delight - he was so welcoming and such a joy to speak with and his cakes/sweets were absolutely delicious! The grounds are beautifully kept and the location is good (just barely 5 minutes' walk into town). There is parking available on premises (tight, as usual in Italy, but it's free). BUT - we had a difficult stay. The beds are terribly uncomfortable (we couldn't sleep the entire stay), the rooms are damp and cold, the shower was dingy with limited hot water (we figured out that showering mid-day was the only way to get more than 2 minutes of hot water), the bathroom was so small that you had to sit/stand sideways to use the toilet...tiles were coming up off the floor, our "balcony" faced a wall...we were miserable and considered checking out early and eating the cost just to get out of there. We caught glimpses of other rooms during cleaning and while they seemed to have better balcony areas than ours, they looked the same otherwise. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Had a fabulous time, the view and venue was spectacular. Only problem we had was parking, had to park in the road, then received a parking fine.

Very good
Beautiful room and common areas overlooking the ocean and garden. Very close to Taormina’s centre, just a short walk up the road and up a very doable staircase for most people in reasonable shape. The breakfast selection for the four days we were there was amazing with a different selection every day. Now the not-so-good parts: The bed after the forth night was intolerable with both of us waking In the middle of the night due to soreness. There is no refrigerator in the room. The parking was ridiculous! If you took your car out there was no guarantee you would get a spot when you returned which meant you had to park on the street a level up around the bend. In fact, we found it was just easier to try to park there anyway. So if have a car and you are planning on doing day trips from Toarmina, this is not the best hotel for you. If they did two things 1. Assign parking spaces when booking on a first come, first served basis. 2. Limit parking spaces by keeping the mid and bottom sections open for turning around your car 3. Replace old mattresses this hotel would be superb!

Grand Tour Grandeur
This classic property evokes images of the Grand Tour of days gone by. You feel pampered and part of something historic just stepping through the front door! Rooms are well appointed and comfortable and the property is elegant and spacious. A great find - just avoid the tight parking lot and park on the street above!
