Yukemurinoyado Yukinohana
"Location was good but you need a car to get around. View was not great looking out at the train station but no big deal noise was not a problem staff were very helpful"
Shibu Hotel
"I absolutely loved Shibu Hotel! The staff went out of their way to help me at every opportunity, the food was incredible, and the location made exploring Shibu Onsen so easy. I can't recommend it enough! Staff: Before I arrived, they actually contacted ME about a pickup outside their posted pickup hours. I hadn't even asked because I assumed it wasn't an option! They checked the weather for me, and someone even ran after me with an umbrella when it started raining. I was traveling alone, and everyone was so warm and welcoming. They recognized me, seemed happy to see me, and I never had trouble communicating. Room: Beautiful traditional Japanese room with tatami and futons. Spacious, quiet, very clean, and I got to watch the fog roll in over the hills from my window! Baths/location: They gave me a yukata and a key with a little map for the nine public baths, and I bought a towel at the desk. But honestly? I liked the hotel's own bath even more. So refreshing! The hotel is also easy to spot, even after wandering the winding streets for ages. Food: Dinner was a beautiful multicourse meal. The fresh fish was wonderful, the beef nabe was incredible, and breakfast was full of little dishes with traditional Japanese flavors. I couldn't get over the tsukemono! I really loved this place. More than anything, it was how kind everyone was. They didn't just help when I asked—they noticed things and helped before I could even think to ask."

"Helpful staff, beautiful rooms and baths"
Hotel Futaba
"Lovely hotel in Yuzawa, which is a 90 minute Shinkansen ride from Tokyo. The onsen is nice too, highly recommend"
Hotel Hoshikawakan
"I enjoyed the dinner meal even though I made a rookie hot pot mistake."
APA Hotel Joetsu Myoko Ekimae
"The rooms are small by the American standards. Breakfast is ¥1600/person. Easy access to JR station."
Livemax Resort Echigo Yuzawa
"Position is convenient for train and restaurants. Onsen area was fabulous alternating temperature between the 2 pools each day. All the personal care items you need. Microwave on each floor is handy. There was at least 1 english speaking staff on front counter at all times. Dinner a little expensive but food was nice."
Hotel Housei
"A very cute Ryokan with a nice onsen. The property is fairly run down, but otherwise a nice and quiet location and was clean."
Trip7 Yuzawa Sky Onsen Hotel
"Checkout staff was incredibly kind and helpful. The onsen was welcoming for foreigners and we were informed tattoos were okay too, which was an unexpected surprise. Amenities (including robe for the onsen) were provided and there were vending machines easily accessible as well. Short walk to Yuzawa Station so it was very convenient. Compared to other properties in the area, it was nice to stay in a hotel with a private bathroom for only a slight price increase from hostel-style accommodations. Would recommend!"

Prices may drop during these months, making it an excellent opportunity for those travelling on a budget.

By using these tools, you're more likely to be the first to know about price drops or room availability for your last-minute getaway.
- Be flexible with dates: Prices can fluctuate depending on factors such as the hotel's location, star rating, and the time of year, so being flexible with your travel dates may help you save on your stay in a hotel in Joetsu. For those seeking distinctive accommodations, boutique hotels can provide a more personalised experience and, at times, better value. When you book through Hotels.com, we will inform you whether the price for your chosen dates is above or below the average. If the price is on the higher side, we will recommend more affordable dates, which could help you secure a better deal.
- Consider your location: Staying nearer to key attractions or city centres can offer convenience, but it often comes with higher costs. For more budget-friendly options, you might consider hotels in less central areas or neighbourhoods, striking a balance between price and accessibility to the sites you wish to visit. Independent hotels located a bit further out usually tend to be cheaper and can provide a more authentic and affordable experience.
