Nice hostel. Well located. Easy access to restaurants and attractions. But they charge almost $9 US for a towel which I think is ridiculous. Other than that everything is okay.

Super clean!

It was a very clean place! Every day, the staff washed the floors and cleaned everywhere. Including Kitchen! Cleanliness was my top priority, and I really appreciated that. A couple of small things: I would have appreciated clearer labels indicating where the trash and recycling go—people were throwing everything together in the kitchen. Overall, I would totally recommend this hostel 🙏

We stayed one night in a double room without a private bathroom. The location is perfect – just a short walk from the heart of downtown Reykjavik. The room itself was spacious and met our basic needs, except for one major issue: there were someone else’s hairs on the bed, which was quite off-putting. However, the shared bathrooms and toilets were truly awful. We didn’t expect a luxury place, but we did expect a reasonable level of cleanliness and maintenance. One of the bathroom doors couldn’t even close properly due to a warped frame. One toilet was broken, another was clogged, and the hairdryer and kettle were both out of order. In short: while the room was acceptable, the shared bathroom facilities were a nightmare and seriously affected our overall experience.

Employees were nice, the room comfortable, and the hostel was clean. It was a perfectly decent place to stay. I do feel a bit bad I didn’t check out properly, I nearly missed my bus to the airport. Heads up that the FlyBus is picking up a handful of blocks away until the renovations at Kex are complete

No lift. Need to walk upstairs. A staff helped me carry my luggage to 3rd floor for check-in when he saw me carrying the luggage upstairs in difficulty. Very nice staff. Not recommend traveller with heavy luggage, unless you are no worry on it.

Everyone was very friendly and respectful, the place is cozy and welcoming, and it’s right next to the shoreline! The only downside is the noise of the renovation construction in the morning, but it’s not a bother if you’re getting up early to go out for excursions. Greatly enjoyed my stay.
