I think I would like to be fair with this review, to say that I picked this because it was cheaper than a few other options, the pictures looked nice so I thought it would be similar but actually the rooms are quite old and tired, and really could do with an update. Having said that the location is fantastic with the tram at the door on Bourke Street.
What I liked:
The location
The bed was comfortable and clean
Staff were nice
...but that's about it
What I didn't like:
Stained carpet, very old plastic blinds that are a bit broken, my room faced lots of other buildings, I can't be sure the blinds were private enough, the bathroom smelled very bad and the fridge was really noisy, there is also no central aircon, the aircon are the older style ones, luckily it was not very hot when I stayed, the apartment lock is also fiddley to operate. The apartment is also a very residential building, the hall way smelled of people cooking and were often people in the hall way with PJs. They also didn't clean my room after the first night, I stayed two nights.
Overall I don't recommend it if you are booking a trip for business, because the ambience is just not quite right, and also if you are booking for someone else because they will surely be disappointed. But if you feel like this is the cheaper option compared to others and location matters, this is OK.
I certainly had no complaints about the staff, but beware, if you are checking in after 5pm, call them in advance to arrange for keys
