Centro Histórico
Lagos' Centro Histórico captivates with cobblestone streets winding past 16th-century walls and golden churches adorned with azulejo tiles. The haunting former slave market stands as a sobering historical monument while ancient fortifications frame stunning harbor views. Traditional tavernas serve fresh seafood and local specialties between historic explorations and cultural discoveries. Highly walkable streets limit vehicle access, making this neighborhood perfect for leisurely exploration. Family-run restaurants and waterfront cafés offer authentic Portuguese flavors while boutique hotels in converted historic buildings provide charming accommodations with old-world character.

Porto de Mós
Porto de Mós wraps you in a golden sand dream framed by dramatic ochre cliffs that practically beg to be photographed. This peaceful pocket of the Algarve offers the perfect escape from Lagos' busier spots with scenic coastal trails winding along the Atlantic. The Ponta da Piedade lighthouse stands watch nearby, while the protected cove below creates ideal swimming conditions for beach lovers. The neighborhood serves up fresh seafood at beachfront restaurants where you can watch the sunset paint the cliffs. Modern holiday apartments and villas with sea views make up most accommodations, though public transport is limited so having a car is smart. Beach season brings the area to life, but even then, you'll find plenty of quiet spots along the coastal paths.

Ameijeira
Ameijeira gives you the best of both worlds in Lagos—calm residential streets just a short stroll from stunning beaches. Walk to Praia da Batata or Praia do Pinhão for golden sands and azure waters without the tourist crush. The neighborhood feels authentically Portuguese with its whitewashed homes and terracotta roofs, perfect for travelers who want local flavor. You'll need to head into Lagos center for restaurants and shopping, just 15-20 minutes away on foot. Most accommodations here are upscale vacation rentals and private villas with pools, ideal for those seeking a peaceful home base with easy beach access.

São Sebastião
São Gonçalo de Lagos's São Sebastião neighborhood offers attractions including Monte da Casteleja Winery.
Praia Dona Ana
The Praia Dona Ana neighborhood offers attractions such as Dona Ana Beach and Batata Beach.

Learn more about Lagos
Beneath limestone cliffs, this Algarve gem invites exploration of its historic old town where narrow cobblestone streets wind between whitewashed buildings adorned with blue tiles. Climb to the clifftop castle for Atlantic panoramas that explain why explorers once set sail from these shores. Praia do Camilo and Dona Ana Beach offer perfect swimming coves framed by golden rock formations. Don't miss Ponta da Piedade, where boat tours navigate through sea arches and grottoes sculpted by centuries of waves. Summer brings vibrant nightlife to the marina area, while seafood restaurants serve the day's catch year-round. Visit the municipal market for local flavors, then join locals for sunset drinks overlooking the harbor where Henry the Navigator once planned his voyages.

NH Lagos Algarve Resort
"The property was clean and well maintained. The breakfast buffet had a lot of options. Friendly staff."
Cascade Wellness Resort Lagos Algarve by Domes
"Very very special place. It’s on a cliff surrounded by the ocean so the vibes are awesome to say the least. Great customer service and very helpful staff. I would like to praise Sara in particular for her hospitality and professionalism and real commitment to making sure all hotel guests are happy. My kids still talk about Gastropub restaurant and the other restaurants on the premises. They were a bit disappointed with the gym especially since it’s advertised as state of the art. Also my younger son wasn’t able to participate in soccer academy and he left a bit disappointed because of it. But overall we absolutely adored the hotel, the staff, the gorgeous setting, the wonderful fresh air… I really wanted to give kudos to the staff for leaving solar eclipse glasses for everyone in our apartment as well as in the info about the upcoming eclipse. I completely forgot about it and it was an undeniable treat to walk out on gorgeous paths behind the hotel and watch the eclipse with the kids and other hotel guests What a special experience!!!"

"Beautiful hotel and grounds. Very clean. Great spread at the breakfast buffet."
Lagos Atlantic Hotel
"Bel hôtel avec beaucoup de situé avec stationnement facile."
Ancora Park
"It is very close walk to port de Joud , amazing in g sunset view , walkable grocery stores and restaurants , open and beautiful area ."
The Editory By The Sea Lagos Hotel
"Beautiful hotel, lovely rooms great size, pool was wonderful, breakfast was great .. over all great stay !!"
Marina Club Suite Hotel
"Picked this mostly because it is a 4 minute walk from the train station and we had an early train to catch on our last day. Great location, room was clean, but the bed was pretty uncomfortable. It was kind of a pain to need both a key card for access to our building and a physical key for access to the room. Staff was mostly lukewarm, but communication was fine. If I was to return to Lagos, I'd probably stay somewhere else."
WOT Lagos Montemar Soul
"The room was clean and the hotel was well located we were able to walk everywhere. We would stay here again."
Villa Doris Suites
"I did not like that after 8 pm I had to pick up my keys from a different location that was further away. Walls are thin if you have noisy tourists. I liked the cleanliness of the building and the room and nice staff. Great location close to the beach."

4 tips for savvy savings when booking a hotel in Lagos
- Book for the cheapest times: Visiting Lagos on a budget is a wonderful opportunity to explore the city's rich cultural heritage affordably. The most cost-effective time to plan your trip is during January, February, and November, when hotel prices may drop, offering lower prices. For a thorough experience of its key landmarks, historical sites, and cultural attractions — including beaches, marinas, monuments, sightseeing spots, family-friendly areas, romantic venues, cosy cafes, guided tours, pleasant walking routes, and relaxing locales — it is recommended to spend at least 4 to 5 days in the city. This timeframe provides great value for money, ensuring you can enjoy an array of budget-friendly experiences without compromising on quality.
- Look for last-minute deals on Hotels.com: To uncover last-minute deals to Lagos, visit the DealsOpens in a new window or Last-Minute Deals sections on Hotels.com, where you may discover discounted rates on hotels as your travel date approaches. To ensure you stay informed, consider enabling email alerts or push notifications from Hotels.com for flash sales and exclusive promotions. Additionally, the Smart Shopping tool available via the app allows you to compare hotel prices and amenities, helping you make informed choices. By setting these notifications, you're more likely to be the first to know about any price drops or room availability for a luxurious getaway.
- Be flexible with dates: Prices may vary due to factors including the hotel's location, star rating, and the time of year. Being flexible with your dates might help you save on your Lagos hotel stay. For those seeking unique experiences, boutique hotels can provide a more personalised touch and occasionally offer better value. When you book with Hotels.com, we will inform you if the price for your chosen dates is above or below average. Should the price be on the higher side, we may suggest more affordable dates, which could help you find a better deal.
- Consider your location: Hotels near the city centre usually command a premium, though Lagos's excellent public transport links mean you might find a more affordable independent hotel further afield that remains well connected. For those wishing to explore alternative, less crowded neighbourhoods or even lesser-known nearby towns, there is often excellent value for money. Opting for these alternative destinations could provide a more authentic and budget-friendly experience.
