Coast 67 Boutique Hotel
"We have just enjoyed the most wonderful holiday in Sri Lanka which was made by the beautiful hotel and fabulous staff at Coast 67 in Ahangama. A stunning setting with gorgeous, quality wooden fixtures and fittings. We stayed for 9 nights which is unusual at this time of year and settled into the rhythm of the hotel very quickly. The staff make Coast 67 the most very special of places. Kind, caring, attentive calm and funny. They are a brilliant team and big thanks go to the chefs who adapted the menu for me. Coast 67 is a must."
Radisson Collection Resort & Spa, Galle

Coastline Mirissa Boutique hotel and spa
"As a Sri Lankan living abroad who has travelled to many countries, this was a rare and memorable find in Sri Lanka. We had an excellent stay at this beautiful, eco-friendly hotel. It is in a fantastic location, within walking distance of Mirissa Beach, and the property is exceptionally well maintained. The staff were warm, friendly, and always happy to accommodate our requests. A particularly nice touch was being personally greeted by the owners during breakfast, which made us feel genuinely welcome. If you’re looking for a peaceful, sustainable place to stay in Mirissa, I highly recommend this hotel."

4 tips for savvy savings when booking a hotel in Matara
- Book for the cheapest times: The most affordable time to visit Matara is during June, September, and October, when hotel prices are typically lower. A stay of at least 3 to 4 days is recommended for discovering the area’s significant landmarks, cultural sites, and natural beauty. Visitors can enjoy the stunning coastline for swimming and surfing, explore ancient temples and monuments, and dine in delightful local eateries. This budget-friendly getaway offers great value for money, especially given the potential for prices to drop during these months. Friendly locals further enhance the experience, making it an enriching cultural journey.
- Look for last-minute deals on Hotels.com: For a trip to Matara, you may discover enticing hotel deals when you explore the DealsOpens in a new window or Last-Minute Deals sections on Hotels.com. To enhance your experience, enable email alerts or push notifications and you're more likely to see flash sales and exclusive offers. Additionally, the Smart Shopping tool available via the app lets you compare hotel prices and amenities, ensuring you remain informed about any changes in availability or price drops for your favourite hotels.
- Be flexible with dates: Prices may fluctuate depending on factors such as the hotel's location, star rating, and the time of year, so having some flexibility with your travel dates could assist you in finding a more favourable rate for your stay in a Matara hotel. For those in search of distinctive accommodations, boutique hotels can provide a more personalised experience and, at times, enhanced value. When you book through Hotels.com, we will inform you if the price for your chosen dates is above or below the average. Should the price be on the higher side, we may suggest alternative dates that could help you discover a better deal.
- Consider your location: Opting for accommodation closer to key attractions or city centres may provide convenience, but it often comes with elevated costs. For more budget-friendly options, you might consider hotels in less central areas or neighbourhoods, striking a balance between price and accessibility to the sites you wish to visit. Furthermore, exploring independent hotels located a bit further out can lead to a more authentic and usually more affordable experience.
