Holiday Inn Sunderland – City Centre by IHG

Holiday Inn Sunderland – City Centre by IHG

10/10 Excellent
"We arrived on a Saturday afternoon. Just 2 of us and I had booked a twin room. The purpose of the stay was for my niece and I to see a show at the Empire Theatre. The receptionist was lovely. Very bright and cheerful. And helpful when we asked directions to the theatre. The room was really clean and had everything we needed. The only (minor) point was there were only 2 teabags. So if you have a cuppa each before bed, you aren't going to get one in the morning. Like I say minor but perhaps not to some. Also although the room was right near the lifts, it was lovely and quiet. I had thought it would be quite noisy on a Saturday but no it was very peaceful. I would definitely recommend this hotel and especially if going to the theatre. It's all within easy walking distance."

Lumley Castle Hotel

Lumley Castle Hotel

10/10 Excellent
"Perfect for couples. It was quiet with beautiful surroundings. We took a walk to the river from the castle, and it was quiet as though we had the whole grounds to ourselves. The food was delicious and the room was cozy with a spacious bathroom. We were lucky as there was a wedding on and as a result, we were treated to a nighttime fireworks display! For us a 10/10. But be mindful that there is no AC in the room - that didn't bother us but might be an issue for others. Also note it's worth checking if there are events on as we didn't realize that if we had arrived earlier, we could have gone on a tour of the castle and had afternoon tea. We are looking forward to visiting again."
