"Friendly and accessible staff always happy to help. Room cleaning was fine - but we did not need much. We only had breakfast once, but it was very good and plenty to choose from. Bar was well stocked. Hotel car park was GBP21 but they encourage you to use a local shopping centre car park instead which is a 5 minute walk away and only GBP7 and they validate the ticket for you - no big hassle."

8/10 Good
"The Hotel is set within the sprawling grounds which includes a wonderfully maintained golf course despite the current heatwave conditions. I was warmly greeted when checking in and got a lot of steps in getting to my room but was rewarded with a room with a view of the course and everything I needed to enjoy my stay. I used the onsite gym which had new equipment in great working condition which provided a good sweat and pump. I decided to dine elsewhere with Reading being only a few miles away. The bed was extremely comfortable and provided a well-needed night's rest with breakfast options being varied allowing for a great start to the day. The staff were very helpful and the hotel was impeccable."

Village Hotel Reading

Village Hotel Reading

10/10 Excellent
"The hotel and all other considerations a great, what does let the hotel down is the poor breakfast, having stayed a number of times I have consistently found this wanting. I come up for work from Devon once a month and aesthetic and atmosphere are everything to me whilst I am away from home on Business. A good start to my day is also a requirement and this prerequisite is a good edible breakfast. I'm not going to get into the detail, everyone knows what a good breakfast looks like, it doesn't take much imagination, I am no food critic, but they are missing a trick here. I did eat the pervious evening in the hotel restaurant and found this to be satisfactory, my steak and frites was very nice. Yes a disappointing start to my working day. "

4 tips for savvy savings when booking a hotel in Reading

  1. Book for the cheapest times: The most affordable time to visit Reading is during January, February, and November, when hotel prices tend to be lower. For those looking to explore the city's rich history and vibrant culture, a stay of at least 2 to 3 days is recommended. This budget-friendly timeframe allows visitors to enjoy key landmarks such as the historical churches and the majestic cathedral, while also experiencing local festivals, charming small-town vibes, and beautiful riverside walks. With its natural parks and friendly locals, Reading offers great value for money for travellers on a budget.
  2. Look for last-minute deals on Hotels.com: To find last-minute deals to Reading on Hotels.com, start by exploring the DealsOpens in a new window or Last-Minute Deals sections, where you may discover discounted hotel options as your travel date approaches. Consider enabling email alerts or push notifications from Hotels.com to stay informed about flash sales and special promotions, helping you seize savings opportunities. Additionally, the Smart Shopping tool available via the app allows you to compare hotel prices and amenities, ensuring you’re more likely to see the best options. With these features, you’ll be among the first to know if rooms become available or prices drop, making last-minute getaways easier.
  3. Be flexible with dates: Prices may vary depending on factors such as the hotel's location, star rating, and time of year, so being flexible with your dates might help you save on your stay in a Reading hotel. For those interested in a unique experience, boutique hotels can provide a more personalised touch and potentially offer better value. When you book with Hotels.com, we will inform you if the price for your selected dates is above or below the average, and if it appears to be on the higher side, we may suggest more affordable dates to help you find a better deal.
  4. Consider your location: Hotels near the city centre usually tend to be more expensive, but thanks to Reading's excellent public transport connections, you may discover a more affordable independent hotel located further afield that is still well connected. For those keen to explore alternative, less crowded neighbourhoods or even nearby, lesser-known towns, there is often excellent value for money. Opting for these alternative destinations can provide a more authentic and budget-friendly experience.
