Blaumar Hotel Salou

Blaumar Hotel Salou

10/10 Excellent
"Excellent hotel with very friendly and attentive staff. Clean and well kept. Apartment building slightly different age to main hotel but once in the apartment, the room standard was high again. Beds and linens very comfortable. Nice area for younger kids to chill in out of the sun and play games etc. Pool was gorgeous. And no saving sun loungers! Breakfast excellent with a great choice. WiFi not great outside the main building/lobby/lounge areas, that is my only little negative. But it was a good excuse to switch off more and not even look at phones."

"We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The location is excellent for walking around and exploring the area. We were very happy with our room, the pools were wonderful, and our sea view was absolutely gorgeous. The only downside is that it’s quite a walk to the beach. The buffet breakfast was nice and had a decent selection, although it was one of the more expensive meals we had during our stay. Overall, we really enjoyed our time here and would definitely recommend it."

Hotel Astari

10/10 Excellent
"Room was nice and clean, the breakfast was good the one day we had it (usually we slept in and didn't bother but that's just us). Good view from the balcony. Pool was nice and clean, enjoyed the covered beds by the pool. Nice bar and reasonably priced. Also really liked the quiet garden that was the other side of the hotel to the pool. It isn't too far of a walk from the main city, and there's also a supermarket relatively nearby. There's a minibar fridge in the room which we kept a few of our own beers in. Its also not too far of a walk to the beach which is a plus."

8/10 Good
"Lovely apartment with comfy beds. I asked for a high floor room and got one at the top with good views inland. Good size balcony. The swimming pool is open but only after 10 am. Across the road are bus stops and an excellent information bus hub. [Ask about a bus to the airports.] This is a quieter, greener end of Salou so you may be using local buses a lot. I recommend walking the coast path and visiting all the little local beaches. [Warning. The nearest beaches are one heck of a climb.] A trip to Tarragona is a must, especially for fans of ancient Rome. A Dac supermarket is just across the road but the best is Coviran just past the information hub. The bad... Check in takes ages and you have to leave a credit card deposit of 200 euros. The hotel next door is a bit noisy but the entertainment stops at 11pm and the patio doors shuts off the noise. Permanent residents live here as well as holiday guests. You need to leave the apartment clean tidy and free of your own rubbish including any leftovers you might leave for the cleaner [who comes only after you've vacated it.] I would stay here again providing I had the same room."

4 tips for savvy savings when booking a hotel in Tarragona

  1. Book for the cheapest times: The most budget-friendly time to visit Tarragona is during January, February, and October, when hotel prices tend to be lower. For a truly enriching experience, it is recommended to stay for at least 4 to 5 days to fully explore the city's significant landmarks, historical sites, and cultural attractions. Highlights include ancient ruins, archaeological sites, and opportunities for sightseeing and recreation, such as enjoying the marina or indulging in jazz events. This duration allows visitors to appreciate Tarragona's rich heritage while ensuring great value for money on their trip.
  2. Look for last-minute deals on Hotels.com: Hotels.com may offer enticing hotel deals to Tarragona, and you could find discounted rates close to your travel date in the DealsOpens in a new window section. By visiting the Last-Minute Deals area, you might discover flash sales and special promotions. Moreover, the Smart Shopping tool available via the app enables you to compare hotel prices and amenities, ensuring you're more likely to see opportunities to save when prices drop or rooms become available. Stay alerted with email or push notifications to keep up with any last-minute availability.
  3. Be flexible with dates: Prices may fluctuate depending on factors such as the hotel's location, star rating, and the time of year, so being flexible with your travel dates in Tarragona might help you save on your hotel stay. For those seeking distinctive accommodations, boutique hotels could provide a more personalised experience and occasionally offer better value. When you book with Hotels.com, we will inform you if the price for your chosen dates is above or below the average. If it appears to be on the higher side, we might suggest alternative, more affordable dates that could help you find a better deal.
  4. Consider your location: Hotels near the city centre usually tend to be more expensive, but thanks to Tarragona's excellent public transport links, you might find a more affordable independent hotel further afield that is still well connected. For those wishing to explore alternative, less crowded neighbourhoods or even lesser-known nearby towns, there is often excellent value for money. Opting for these alternative destinations could provide a more authentic and budget-friendly experience.
