Godaulia
Godaulia buzzes with the energy of Varanasi's spiritual heart, where shoppers haggle for silks and religious trinkets in crowded bazaars. The iconic Kashi Vishwanath Temple stands proudly amid narrow lanes packed with devotees and curious travelers. Nearby, evening aarti ceremonies light up Dashashwamedh Ghat as chanting voices echo across the sacred Ganges River. Traditional street food dominates the scene with mouthwatering kachori, chaat, and lassi available from dawn until midnight. Navigate the medieval maze by foot or hop on a cycle rickshaw to explore further, as the neighborhood's ancient lanes are too narrow for regular vehicles.

Sigra

The neighborhood hums with spiritual energy - ornate temples with intricate carvings, colorful shrines, and the constant symphony of prayer bells create an immersive cultural experience. Markets along Sigra Road burst with traditional silk sarees, brass artifacts, and religious items perfect for meaningful souvenirs. Local eateries serve vegetarian thalis and sweet shops offer traditional treats like malaiyo and rabri. Budget guesthouses and family-run homestays provide authentic accommodation options. Auto-rickshaws and cycle-rickshaws navigate the narrow lanes easily, connecting you to the main ghats just a short ride away.
Varanasi Nagar Nigam
Varanasi Nagar Nigam's ancient stone ghats cascade down to the sacred Ganges, where pilgrims perform daily rituals amid floating marigolds and incense smoke. The golden spires of Kashi Vishwanath Temple pierce narrow lanes filled with saffron-robed sadhus and centuries-old havelis. Walking these labyrinthine streets, you'll hear temple bells and Sanskrit chants that have echoed here for thousands of years. Auto-rickshaws and cycle-rickshaws navigate the narrow lanes while boats offer scenic transport along the Ganges. Traditional vegetarian thalis, lassi shops, and rooftop restaurants overlooking the ghats provide authentic local flavors. From budget ashrams to heritage havelis turned boutique hotels, accommodations cater to both spiritual seekers and curious travelers.

Lanka
Lanka offers a peaceful retreat from Varanasi's busy ghats with tree-lined avenues and the scholarly atmosphere of Banaras Hindu University. The sprawling campus grounds feature historic buildings and the notable Bharat Kala Bhavan museum housing significant art collections. Small neighborhood temples dot quiet residential streets, providing glimpses into authentic local life away from tourist crowds. Budget guesthouses and paying guest accommodations make this area affordable for travelers. Auto-rickshaws and cycle-rickshaws provide easy transportation around the neighborhood and to Varanasi's famous sites. Student-friendly eateries serve delicious, affordable North Indian meals perfect for budget-conscious travelers seeking genuine experiences.

DoubleTree by Hilton Varanasi
"It was a good stay in Varanasi"
Trilok Residency
"I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Trilok Residency. The standout feature of this property is definitely the incredible hospitality and helpful management. Navigating the crowded Varanasi streets can be overwhelming, but the staff went completely out of their way to help. They provided an amazing porter service and even dropped me off on a bike through the damn busy streets to ensure I made it easily. On top of that, they arranged highly reliable and genuine cabs for my airport pickups and drops, as well as a trip to Prayagraj. While the location itself in the narrow lanes can be a bit challenging to navigate, the staff's unmatched helpfulness and care completely make up for it. I highly recommend staying here if you want peace of mind during your Kashi trip!"
HOTEL DOLPHIN GRAND
"Really clean room & good shower with a functiong mixer tap unlike a lot of hotels in India. The housekeeping, reception, travel agency & food/beverage teams were all excellent. You could tell they were proud of working for the hotel. I would rate it as the best hotel in my 3 week stay in India."
Taj Nadesar Palace
"The property lives up to its promise. What was a genuine 11/10 was the staff - they went over and above to ensure that my guests had a great stay from the minute they landed at the airport to the time they took off. Big shout out to Kaif who helped coordinate it all within minutes of booking. Great experience overall and a no brainer if you're looking to book a hotel in the city."

BrijRama Palace, Varanasi - By the Ganges
"Fabulous hotel with a historic ambience and modern amenities – including a fancy bidet toilet!"
Amritara Suryauday Haveli
"Hotel is quite basic for the rates charged. It requires updating and more 3 pin plug sockets. The location is perfect for prayers etc as it's by the river. The restaurant serves extremely nice veg food at a reasonable price."
Ekam Kashi
"I stayed at Ekam Kashi for three days and had a great experience. Archana at the front desk was very helpful and welcoming. The kitchen, Jathragani, served excellent food, especially the dinner thali. The restaurant staff, Neha, Lucky, and Akash, were warm and made us feel like family. The location is a big plus."
