8/10 Very Good

If you missed out on the Communist era, the Hotel Neboder is running a neat simulation, note-perfect in several aspects: the menacing front-desk staff, outdated and broken furniture, carpets that needed replacing 20 years ago, and, of course, the truly scary mid-70’s elevator. Extra touches include an air conditioner pegged at 24 C, and room curtains that don’t fit the windows, but none of it would really work without the general atmosphere of hopelessness that is their real masterstroke. Just kidding, comrade, it’s not the real thing, it’s a show for your enjoyment; you can tell because the AC does eventually cool the room, the beds are comfortable, hot water is available, breakfast is mostly edible, and the view from our room on the 11th floor was terrific. It’s a solid 2-star hotel with a 3-star price tag, enjoy it.

One night stopover
I had read some reviews that the hotel was old & very dated. It is, but this added to the experience it was like going back 40 years to an old soviet style hotel. They should use this as a selling point!!! Breakfast buffet was great, lots of choice. Staff were friendly enough.

It is decent hotel. Looks outdated but has the essentials. We stayed just over night, were caught in torential rain, ans was the closest to where we were. No complains. Parking is included, and was full, but he accomodated us to park.

Socialist experience :-)
I visited on a research trip related to the specific building - the exploration of former Yugoslavia hospitality architecture, for which this building is a great case study. Despite its renovation in 2007, it seems to be frozen in time somewhere before the Yugoslavian war, which is exactly what describes the level of comfort in the hotel. Doable but defiantly sub standard. Also, from an architectural standpoint, the hotel becomes a dead trap in case of a fire - the open staircase that connects all floors is also the fire escape route - if there is a fire on the lower floors, occupants on the upper floors will be trapped and are exposed to the fumes. So, if you want to feel the 1960 in a former socialist country, this is your place.

smoky hotel
The employees are very nice and the free breakfast is excellent and extensive. My only complaint is the hotel smells like smoke and our nonsmoking room smelled terrible. I complained and they said the couldn't do anything about it.

Parker's Europe Tour
Dont miss the underground garage entrance, as we did, it's a 2km drive around the one way system in traffic to get back! Would be great if they sent a map and instructions by email. Carpet dirty with burn marks, room ok. Only one socket, get with it, its 2019 not the dark ages, at least supply an extension lead!

The service was excellent!! The hotel is old building, but cute and clean. Nice to have a balcony. Clean and spacious bathroom. Lift was small only enough room for 2 people. Some area's smell like smoke. The restaurant was clean and a lot of food, beautiful buffet

Great staff!
The staff was extremely nice at this hotel. The hotel however was much more dated. We did not have a room facing the water so there was just a small window behind the bed. There was however parking that we used as we came with our car.

I wouldn’t go back to Hotel Neboder. They advertise parking, but no parking available, we got a lot of attitude from the hotel receptionist on shift, which just wasn’t needed or expected. Rooms are extremely dated and stuffy and carpet looks disgusting. Don’t eat there, breakfast is a joke, orange juice was like drinking cough syrup. Just a horrible hotel to stay, please avoid.

Disappointing
We travelled to Rijeka for a family wedding and we picked this hotel as the pictures on the website looked lovely. Unfortunately the pictures are nothing like the hotel. It is very basic dated and old fashioned, and the location is not ideal as it is quite a bit of a walk to the town. Also we had hired a car and another reason we had picked this hotel is that it has parking, but the car park was full for the three days we were there. Thankfully we were able to park out on the road outside. However the reception staff were very friendly and helpful and he rooms were very clean, and were cleaned every day with clean sheets and towels every day.

Tired hotel in noisy location
Rather tired hotel with a small room and even smaller lifts! Whilst the location is within easy reach of town it is in a run down area and on a busy road. Plus points for aircon ( you need it as you cannot leave your window and an undercover car park although I challange you to find the entrance first time round!
