This is a charming and safe house, nearly 100 years old, located in an accessible part of Havana. A few steps away from the Malecon and dining gems La Guarida and Michifu. We were able to get to Old Havana, central Havana and part of Vedado (such as Hotel Nacional) easily on foot.
We stayed in Room 4 (double room on ground floor with Queen size bed). The mattress was firm and comfortable, and the pillows were good. The furniture was so cute and reminded me of my grandparents house. We liked the high ceiling in our room and how cool the room stayed even when it was very hot outside. The AC and ceiling fan were efficient. The water pressure in the bathroom was good.
The breakfast (fresh fruit, pancakes, eggs, fresh juice and coffee) was enough to start the day right.
Most of the staff were pleasant and nice to interact with. My favorite (and most fluent in English) was Taimy, she is lovely and so friendly!
Whoever is managing the Expedia account provided an excellent experience with fast and informative responses. Jorge kindly helped us with a late checkout - luckily, this was possible as we had a late flight out of Havana that day.
We wanted to explore Havana and live the experience to the max. We were not interested in staying in a tourist bubble. The casa is in central Havana in a neighborhood where regular Cubans live. The neighborhood is lively, and the streets are not pristine (typical of much of Havana). We always felt safe, even walking at night.
