Pretty average
Waiting in line for check-in was a pain. They finally got another person on the desk. There was a self-check in kiosk, but it would have been helpful to have someone at that post to encourage and help people, like me, who were curious, but not sure how to use the machine. Unfortunately, we wanted to eat at 1140! The breakfast restaurant just closed and the hostess was less than warm in her announcement that we were not welcome. We waited 20 minutes for the lunch/dinner restaurant to open. As I have mobility issues and use a walker, this was less that helpful. It left a bad taste in my mouth - bitter, actually.

Bad noise
All was very good, including the staff; however, every morning at 6:00 am loud construction happened beneath our room.

Loved our stay - made the holiday a delight
The location of the facility to the train station (Gare Central) can not be beat. The pool here is second to none and is well taken care by professionals, open 365 days a year and is heated for maximal comfort. Great for lap swimming or just soaking up the garden ambiance. The building itself is a solid capture in time of mid century modern. The concrete walls are excellent for soundproofing. Building itself is sprawling and the ability to climb stairs is required for some of the rooms. The gardens and duck ponds 10 stories up in the middle of the city are so restful and completely unexpected. The Bonaventure’s staff are caring, professional and extremely helpful. Beds were blissful. If I was to find one thing that needed to improve it is the menu of the restaurant. So much is exceptional - and staff are very attentive- but dry chicken wings, nachos or clubhouse sandwich didn’t cut it for us. If it was equal to the food quality expected in Montreal it would be hard to ever leave. Note there are some mi or areas for maintenance improvements but if you want to stay in an independent hotel that is not cookie cutter - this is it.

Perfect Location
This hotel occupies the top two floors of an office building directly across the street from the train/metro station. The outdoor pool and hot tub is wonderful and the area is beautifully landscaped (think grown trees on the tenth floor). Truly indescribable! The breakfast is very nice and the service staff is excellent.
