We came for the Polar Express Train Experience. We had decided at the last minute to stay at the hotel. Glad we did as it was easy for getting ready for the train and walking around afterwards. The worst part is I would NOT recommend the dinner at Fred Harvey. It was TERRIBLE!! We did get refunded. However this restaurant is NOT set up for the number of people they’re doing for the Polar Express. We bought the food tickets in September but they were allowing walk-ins. When we came in at 7:40pm they were out of most food. Salad bar was empty of food and plates. There were two lines for hot food. 1 line had 1 guy making individual pasta orders! My husband stood in line for 30 minutes for pasta. Gave up. Went back when the line went down. Waited 20 minutes again. Then cook said he had to leave for 5 minutes to wash pans. This is NOT how you serve the masses. The other hot food was gross. This was by far the worst restaurant experience we’ve had at a place. If you’re serving kids - most like pasta - you don’t have one person making individual pasta dishes!!! You make mass quantities of spaghetti. You’ve been doing this for years but it felt like this was the first weekend the restaurant was open. I don’t think Fred Harvey would have approved. Everything else about the stay was great.

“Onsite” Laundry
Don’t be fooled. Chose this facility for this onsite laundry. They informed me there was a shuttle to the laundry facility the next day starting at 9am. The property is multiple city blocks and they laundry is technically on their properly, but not the convenience I expected after a weeks worth of travel. Wanted to be able to move between my room and laundry. Very family oriented- everyone was walking around in their matching PJs. Restaurant was average.

Daily housekeeping of rooms is only if requested before 9 am. The bed was comfortable but had an air mattress feeling. Walking distance to train station and town was the best in town.

Kinda disappointing
Decent hotel but old and tired exterior and outdated room with old beds, not very comfortable. Not worth $150+ per night that we paid in off season. They did not receive our room request, not sure why - I double checked with hotels.com a couple days before we got there. They push the railway train to the Grand Canyon but it’s very expensive -$300 per couple for the lowest level car with no AC. Lobby was nice, surrounding area was safe and clean but not much to do in the immediate area. Small city with just restaurants, bars and small shops.

Good stay with some caution
The hotel is great. It is located next to the train station and within walking distance to downtown shopping and restaurants. Rooms are very clean and comfortable. The staff is very friendly but could use some training at the front desk. There were a few areas of concern to me. Be sure to carry a few credit cards for check-in. I presented my card for a deposit of 75.00 and it was declined. I didnt think much of it as I am from the east coast and thought maybe my card company suspected fraud. I tried another card and it was immediately approved. I go into my email to find my credit card alerts for.both cards as pending charges. They had 150.00 deposit and didn't know how to clear the first one. I decided to wait until checkout to get them both cleared. Front desk told me that it's a glitch that happens. Just be prepared. The day of checkout we also got up to take showers. The sink and shower water were both red. We decided to forgo the shower and brushed with bottled water. Upon check out I inquired and was told the town water was being switched out. I asked if the water was safe for showers and was told it was. We were then told it was not safe for drinking. I asked why guests were not informed and was met with a blank stare. Overall experience was ok. I would stay here again. I would just be more prepared next time.
