Quality stay in city center for a budget price!
The staff were just lovely - extremely friendly. The place was clean, room had safe, microwave, small fridge with freezer, TV with Roku, and remote-control AC, great location. Swimming pool was basic but did the job. I wanted to stay in the center of the city with a budget price & to really experience Mexican culture. I lucked out by picking Hotel Kavia - only two blocks from Park Las Palapas where on one weekend I was able to see a K-Pop concert, watch a clown show, browse the market stalls selling a variety of goods and eat at one of the many traditional Mexican food stands. The Cancún buses are great to get further afield or to get down to the hotel zone to enjoy the beaches - just 12 pesos per trip. The R1 bus to the beach was only a couple of minutes walking distance from the hotel and ran regularly taking only about 20 minutes to get to the Hotel Zone beach. Any concern I had that the area might not be as safe as the hotel zone was quickly dismissed - the neighborhood was walkable and I always felt comfortable even later at night. Lots of families walking around. I highly recommend the hotel if you looking for an affordable place to stay and it provides all the basics and more, as well as a central location. Would definitely stay there again!

4/10 Fair

We were given just a sheet the first night we had to ask for covers. The safe didnt work so we had to wait for someone to come fix it either after 11pm or the next day. One night the lights went off on the whole building so we had no electricity. The next morning we didnt have water. Overall I feel that the reviews and rating were misleading for us. The staff was nice even though the experience was disappointing.
