After a somewhat sketchy stair climb this place is one of the most charmful spots in Zhangjiajie to stay. It should be noted they had ample staff to help haul up the luggage. Our host, Hom, greeted us at the bottom of the stairs upon arrival and was great throughout our entire stay. Xiaomei is the boss lady, and was extremely hospitable. We only stayed two nights and were originally staying in one of their chalet rooms. On the second night she upgraded us to the glass room, which was a very cool experience! The chef, Baozi, was great also. We would order off the menu, or just let him through whatever he felt like together. It was always delicious. The only negatives we found were they were under a bit of construction, and it’s a little bit of a drive to Wulingyuan, the airport, and other sites on the east side of the park. That being say, once you get their its super cozy. The rooms are very clean, nice new bathrooms, and a fantastic staff. Overall, we would definitely recommend the Glass Inn for a less sanitized, typical hotel-type stay!

Lovely stay in updated traditional Chinese home!

I want to start by saying that I usually stay at Marriott, since I am a lifetime platinum member. However, I couldn't find a suitable Marriott hotel in ZhangJiaJie and the Glass House stood out to me when I did a quick hotel search of the area. I was cautious initially about staying here because of the low number of reviews, but I loved it. It is located at the top of a 10 minute walk upstairs, in the middle of a mountain close to ZhangJiaJie park. They have an English speaking concierge who can help you with booking taxis and planning your trip. The place is renovated from a traditional family home and is a family run. They did a great job with renovations - they have WiFi, air conditioning and updated features such as bidet toilets and mirrors with TVs in the bathrooms. I found the rooms to be spacious and quite comfortable. We stayed one night in a traditional home, and another night in the Glass House, which was a very cool experience. I preferred the traditional home for more space, but the Glass House was novel and worth one or two nights stay. The location is also really nice. It's a 3 minute drive or 20 minute walk from one of ZhangJiaJie park's entrances. The hotel itself is very quiet and feels like a get-away resort. I loved my stay there and would stay there again.

We had a fantastic time at Glass House. Our family (4 adults, 2 kids) stayed at the "Piggy House" and really enjoyed this unique hotel. The owner and the people work here were very nice and genuinely wanted to make your stay here as comfortable as possible. The breakfast was so good that we decided to have dinner here at the hotel rather than outside where the food was usually overpriced with unpredictable quality. We actually went to the hotel's vegetable garden to pick up the fresh vegetables we liked and had the chef cooked for us - truly organic, fresh, and tasty. To get to the hotel, you will need to walk up stairs (about 700 steps). Pat yourself on the back if you make the walk in about 10 minutes without a break - this means you are in better shape than most of the people, and is definitely ready for the walking, climbing, and waiting in lines in the next few days when you visit the ZhangJiaJie National Park. The hotel is located in the middle of the mountain - when you arrive, you need to call the hotel. They will send someone down to get your bags. The hotel is close to one of the entrance of the National Park (2 minutes by car and 20 minutes walking). There is also a free parking lot at the City's Tourist Center Parking lot, located at the bottom of the mountain where the hotel is located.

The property was located up in the mountain. we were not expecting to walk all the way, so getting there by foot on stone steps for about 20-25 minutes was a little too much for us. However, after we stayed there for overnight, and waking up seeing the breathtaking view of the mountain, it was all worth it! The food there was especially good! I have been having stomach ache after every meal in the ZhangJiaJie area, except for the food I ate at Glass House. I think the food and cooking oil they use are without any preservatives. The customer service there was superb, and my kids enjoyed the fun design of the houses there. I would recommend staying there for at least two nights to enjoy the view and quietness of the mountain.

    Beyond ordinary immersive experience

I've stayed at a lot of hotels this year, I'm Diamond with Hilton, Plantinum with Marriott, Gold with IHG and Discoverist with Hyatt. This stay was my most favorite one by far. The amenities are what you would expect, nice clean sheets and towels, a pool but that's not why you come. This place is a little oasis of nature. There is a little bit of walk up to get there but they came down and carried all my things up, once up it doesn't matter. You have a view of the mountains and cocooned from society. You're not in a hotel, you're in a collection of Chinese Chalets 200 years old but renovated to be modern and new buildings such as the Glass House. I stayed in the Glass House and it was great, a different experience from the norm, but I really fell for the other rooms that Long Wu, the owner and designer showed in the reconverted family chalet. It was a traditional immersive experience but with all the modern comforts you would come to expect. The attention to traditional craftsmanship and details is amazing. The family and staff make you feel more than welcome and the whole place has an excellent vibe that is shared with the other guests. You can choose to eat on site and I suggest you do, it is delicious. I didn't leave when I was supposed to, I stayed a few more hours since it was just good being there. I didn't want to leave but alas, the world awaits. This place is a strong recommend.

This property is excellent! The location is just 5 minutes drive from the main park entrance (the owner arrange the transportation for you - 20rmb). Bedrooms are comfortable and well decorated. The owners are a family and are very nice and friendly. They help you to plan your visit at Zhangjiajie park day by day. Don’t miss to have your dinner at their place. The food is excellent and fresh. They pick up the vegetables from their own garden everyday. I definitely recommand to stay here, you just feel like home 🏡. Thanks again!

Extremely helpful and friendly place. It’s more like a home stay than a hotel, but in this case that’s a good thing. It’s a family run hotel owned by a tujia family (tujia = one of China’s many minorities). Serves great home cooked food, both tujia dishes and Chinese “favorites”. The glass house is good but the tujia historic house with 100+ years of history is even better.
