We stopped off in Kandy for one night driving between east and west coasts. The guest house is in a beautiful, peaceful location high on a hillside overlooking Kandy. The house has a gorgeous verandah with a stunning view of Kandy below and the mountains around. The hosts are friendly and very welcoming and the living areas are spacious, light and clean. We had two rooms adjacent to each other for our children and us, with a bathroom between. The rooms had views over Kandy and were basic but comfortable and clean. The bathroom was at the end of its life but perfectly functional. The breakfast was excellent - we had the best papaya of our trip - and very plentiful. We all loved the feel of the house and the fact that Dorothy, our host, was clearly a great animal-lover. Happy, playful dogs in the garden and, the highlight of our stay, a visiting enormous wild boar called Kiri who comes from the jungle to be fed outside the kitchen twice a day. We have given 4 rather than 5 stars because of the bathroom, but still recommend Alcam Holiday home highly
