  • 8.0.Very good

Nice hotel in a lovely location

The staff were helpful on arrival. We stayed one night in a small double and it was as described, although the view to the window was limited due to the rooms location. There was sufficient room to lay out you cases and move around. The bed was comfortable and the shower was good with nice soaps etc. There was a great selection of teas and coffees in the room, plus a bottle of still water. The food in the bar was lovely as was breakfast, which was pre-ordered the night before.

Very comfortable standalone en-suite room next to the hotel. Opens onto the street which is unusual but no complaints. Good breakfast which you need to order in advance night before.

clean but room not comfortable to sit in

There were some good and some not so good aspects to our stay. The good things were it was very clean in all areas and the check in was efficient and friendly. The down side was the lack of comfort in the room -only one backless stool to sit on -the website says " For a long and happy sigh of satisfaction. A haven for the weary walker. Cosy throws to keep your toes toasty and plump armchairs. Bring a novel." well we were weary walkers and trust me one person having to sit on the bed and one on a stool is not my idea of comfort . the photos on the website show armchairs and I did ask at reception if they had any small chairs as I have a slight back problem but alas they said all rooms only have stools. Really ?? I think the designers of the rooms need to go on a long walk and then come back and try the stools and see if they give a long sigh of satisfaction!

    Great Stay

What a fab stay, the room was bright and clean, Ian was fabulous nothing was to much trouble, easy to order food, which was delicious you had to use the QR Code App but you could get table service as well. Sarah the waitress was lovely, bubbly and attentive. We went as guests and left feeling like friends, great stay Keep doing what you do, you’re all fab Paul & Tracie York

The worst hotel Iv stayed in in the last 3 years

The worst hotel Iv stayed in the last 3 years- & for me even with lockdown that’s 30 or 40. Rooms pricey, small but well decorated. Trouble was miles too hot, so couldn’t sleep. No social distancing/use of masks etc. Service by really nice people, but overworked & very slow. Dinner not too bad, but breakfast although scheduled & preordered still 30+ minutes wait, table not set & never got my porridge!

    Great village, lovely hotel!

We loved our stay in Pooley Bridge, quieter than some other lakes places! Hotel is great, breakfast really nice and on the right side of the road for a lovely river view from the garden. Room was clean and comfy, would’ve been nice for a 4 night stay to have a room with somewhere to sit but otherwise a lovely stay and friendly, efficient service.

Overall it was a great stay. The room was spacious, comfortable bed, nice little touches (tea tray selection, free water bottle etc.), good wifi and lovely view inside (wallpaper) and outside the room. Breakfast was made to order, it was good. It gets really busy the bar/restaurant area but as a guest the staff will try to find you a table. Nice outdoor area to sit and relax next to the river. The only negative - the breakfast is not served until 8am which is quite late if you are there for some hiking.
