Great Stay
This was a wonderful surprise. The Old Hotel had so much charm and History. The Whole staff were friendly and caring, this is hard to find these days. From our room we could see Mt. Fuji, but only at an angle. That was OK. From the onsen huge windows looked out at Fuji.

I had a really wonderful experience at Kawaguchiko Hotel. It’s definitely an older hotel with older rooms and facilities, but that didn’t bother me at all. All the staff were so kind and helpful. If you buy the included breakfast, be prepared for huge portions of food that keeps coming! I usually don’t eat large breakfasts so felt really bad I wasn’t able to finish everything (which is disrespectful in Japan), but the two ladies making the food accommodated my requests and gave me smaller portions my last morning. If you have special requests, make sure to ask them! The public bath was also really nice—the men’s side has a view of the lake and of Mt. Fuji, which you can see most clearly early in the morning. It’s open for use from 3pm to around 9am the next morning. Yukata robes, towels, and slippers/sandals are provided, in addition to all the normal bath supplies. There is also a shuttle to/from Kawaguchiko station—the sign says it’s from 7-10am, but one staff member still kindly drove me to the station around noon when my bus was departing. Lastly, the location was perfect—right next to the lake. I was in a western style room (twin beds) on the back side, but I believe the Japanese style rooms (sleep using futon) all face the lake. You can easily walk to the local shops and hiking trails from the hotel, or there is a bus stop a few minutes walk from the hotel as well that takes you around the lake’s perimeter. I’m already looking forward to my next stay!

The hotel is old and dated, which enhanced the old traditional Japanese experience. Their breakfast was big and tasty. The staff spoke English and provided excellent service. They were very welcoming and informative about restaurants near by.

Wonderful Old Hotel
While the Hotel is a little dated by today's standards it is nevertheless a enjoyable experience. The service is second to none, and when they say they have an English speaking staff they actually do! I highly recommend one takes advantage of the onsen, and purchases the breakfast.

The Kawaguchiko Hotel has incredivle views over Lake Kawaguchi and from the onsen a flawless view of Mount Fuji. The staff are delightful and we felt very welcome during our visit. We also enjoyed the tatami mat beds, very comfortable and warm!
