The hotel had staffing issues so were unable to supply any dinners,the locals restaurant was also closed so we had to leave after one night

A lovely old Victorian mansion set in beautiful grounds in a wild and lonely valley- it could be so romantic... But the potential is entirely wasted when you see the hideously kitsch sentimentality of the decor within- awful pictures, awful brass birds, awful gewgaws decorating every surface. You could honestly throw the whole lot in a skip and the place would look a million dollars. And my room was rubbish- a tiny room with a single bed, everything creaky and cheap.
