Left a bad taste
We received a warm welcome from reception when we arrived with information about the hotel and its services and getting around Murano and Venice. The room was lovely and comfortable, clean but dark because of the room within a warehouse style so although you have windows there is an outer shell of brick work which leaves you a small area for the light to get in. We could hear staff chatting on the floor below and looking down were all the empty crates and bottles. there were various optional teas and a coffee machine. We had two cups and one saucer so thought the second one would arrive but didn't. We used the inside hotel bar and restaurant the first evening but found the bar area dark and not welcoming. The barman was cheery and lit the candles. We went in for a meal at the arranged time and service was slow even from standards we had received travelling around Italy. Our meals were unappealing but with no real choice at night (7.30) to go anywhere else we had to eat it. I had risotto. There appeared to be other guests getting served their courses and drinks at a speedier rate but we waited so so long after the risotto we left and never went back. The Riva bar outside was excellent in its atmosphere and service. In our opinion, the dining experience left a bad taste about this hotel and would not recommend it.
