Amazing!
This is an incredible place. We stayed for one night on our way home to the UK. We'd have been very happy to stay longer. The owner was charming when he greeted us. Although he only spoke a little English & we a little French, we got along just fine & had a laugh. The room was lovely. We were in 'Lulu' which is Picasso themed. It was amazing that he & his son built the whole place themselves, including the impressive furniture in the restaurant. We were particularly impressed with the food, both at dinner & breakfast. Absolutely superb & I have no idea how they did a stunning 3 course dinner for €19. This hotel was in a very rural area yet close to Verdun & the WW1 sites. Lovely, thank you.

Quirky, but a great stopover
This was our second visit here. The place is quirky and the rooms are basic, but you get what you pay for. The host is lovely and the restaurant is really good. The food is simple, but delicious. It feels really comfortable here, no frills, but a great place for a stopover

Unique and fun
This is a very quirky place, but we fell in love with it. The room had a loft with a bathroom which fit our family situation well. The room was small but very suitable and had a sweet deck. The grounds were fabulous to explore with an old mini golf course and room to run around. The breakfast was our favorite though. The owner came out to greet us, and provided an excellent meal. He gave us maps and ideas about what to explore first. He only spoke French (but others spoke English and German). We ate dinner at the hotel the first night but I would recommend eating in town after that. You're about 10 minutes from Verdun. Great, unique place.

Trip
A diamond in the rough. Basics were supplied. Dinner was delicious. Owner was exuberant. Very country- you will hear the cows moo!

2/10 Poor

The staff did not speak ANY ENGLISH. The entire place was full of smoke. Considering this was a no smoking reservation. The first night was terrible due to the amount of smoke coming from the floor under the room ( owners house) We checked out the following day and left.

Absolutely Charming
Le Village Gaulois is ideally located for visiting Verdun and the Argonne Forest and neighboring areas. It is a short drive out into the countryside from Verdun in a truly beautiful region. The friendly and relaxed atmosphere was wonderful and the food was excellent. Staying there was a fabulous experience and we were sorry to leave!!
