Great hotel in a great location
Grand Park City Hall Hotel is in an ideal location in Singapore if you are planning to use MRT and do lots of shopping. Easy access from airport from the green line. Lots of shopping malls nearby Raffles City, Suntec, Marina Square. Can easily change to other MRT lines. Hotel staff is efficient. Check in is easy. I specially liked the automated light and temperature controls. House keeping is done on time. Only problems are that the rooms are small and the breakfast has very few options and their coffee is bland. If you are planning to stay for more than two days I recommend not to get hotel breakfast as it doesn’t worth the money.

An Xmas treat - or so I thought
Solo travelling, and just overcoming a severe bout of gastroenteritis the morning of my booking, I booked somewhere as an Xmas treat for myself. I arrived and asked if my room had a bath tub (it didn’t) so I asked if there was one available. The receptionist (lady), who could clearly see I was visibly tired and still quite sick offered the upgrade complimentary - only to be overruled by her colleague. Honestly not a problem as I just really wanted to relax in a hot bath. Anyway, I got to the room to find the bath wouldn’t hold water so rang down to reception who said they would send someone up - 1 hour later (10pm) and still no one arrived so rang down again. Someone then arrived and told me it was fixed and proceeded to leave. Sadly, it wasn’t fixed and the same problem still existed but with the added sound effects of what could only be described as Niagara Falls emptying down the drain. I also tried to get room service as had been travelling all day but was told it wasn’t available due to an Xmas Eve brunch happening. Anyway, off to bed we go with a noisy fan that wouldn’t turn off - despite the high tech touch screen pad on the wall. After a night of hardly any sleep (albeit some due to my illness) I woke up for breakfast. Lots of offer but the hot food was lukewarm at best. Overall, from what I thought was going to be a very pleasurable and luxurious experience, it did not live up to expectations or the standards that the hotel promotes on their advertising.

Horrible Stay
This is an understaffed, under maintained hotel. Go at your own risk. I Checked in on 7th floor, on the 2nd day of my stay, house keeping “forgot” to clean up the room. When I complained at the reception, I was told that the reception can’t help it because the staff had left. When I insisted on sleeping in a clean room, I was asked to move my stuff to a new room on the 7th floor… I packed and carried my luggage only to realize that the door of that new room did not work. I was then allotted another room on 6th floor. This 6th floor room had a broken toilet flush and doesn’t stop flushing till after you have tried 6-7 times. Bfast is nothing to write home about.
