What a bizarre experience. I've been familiar with the Selina chain for a while, but this was my first time staying at one. Unfortunately this will probably be my last.
Most of the amenities advertised on the Selina Montevideo website just didn't exist... There was no cocktail bar. No coffee shop. No restaurant. No hand soap anywhere. There were no activities (or if there were, no one told me). I would loved to have participated in the yoga they advertised, but there was no information about it. I even would have been willing to pay for activities, had there been any.
As a digital nomad who travels with a full-time job, one of the main reasons I stayed here was the promise of a coworking space. This was the biggest disappointment. Just because a communal room happens to have tables in it, that does not mean it's a suitable place to work. Noise aside (as the "CoWork" was in the same room as the "recreation lounge"), there were no functioning power outlets and the wifi was not strong enough to make calls.
The private room I stayed in was comfortable enough, but I don't think I actually slept my entire stay. The walls were so thin I could even hear when the guests across the hall showered.
I will say, the staff was incredibly friendly (despite all the issues with the property/advertising; I don't believe any of this is their fault). The location right across from the beach was also nice.
In conclusion, if you're looking for a place to sleep and/or work, do NOT stay here.
