First time here since changing name
Stayed here under its original name, Nothing has changed here but the name. Nice, pleasant stay with a good nights sleep, and comfortable room. Staff pleasant. Grand hotel to stay in if not interested in travelling to the town centre. However, I would not consider this a 4 star hotel, but enjoyed stay.

Not great. We were put into a room basically that i didnt book. Returned to reception to be told by manager and cleaning lady all other rooms were gone and walked away. Went back to discuss with my husband what to do. So we decided either they give us a room we booked for or leave. Met another lady at reception a little more helpful but her co worker kept whispering in her ear that the rooms were all checked in as they had told me previous. We got a different room in the end. Wont be staying here again .

Our distarous dinner. !!!
We were only staying for one night Bedroom very spacious , warm and comfortable. Great lighting to apply makeup which is a change for hotels in general However we attempted to eat in hotel. Good cold. I ordered special , chrispy duck. !! It was cold , soggy skin , thrown on top of a cold bed of champ ! Covered with a red berry sauce , in essence the who plate looked like a road traffic accident. The waitress and the bar man both apologised perfusely and offered to warm it up. I just asked it be removed. Duck had been precooked and was lightly microwaved , resulting it being dry and tough. I didn't eat anything , was offered a complimentary drink , and they apologised several time , they were clearly embarrassed any chef would turn out such a dish , however chef did not appear which I feel is very unfair. The service staff were not at fault. My husband ordered Sole. It was also cold but he ate it as he was very hungry and it was a very wet windy night , so going somewhere else at 8-30 pm was not suitable. Receptionist , and service staff lovely. But you need a new chef / cook. Sack the one who was cooking on fri 20 th Oct '17.
