Modern renovations - but with a 1-star soul.
Despite tasteful and modern renovations the hotel tries so hard to be a 1-star property. The decent hard product is so poorly let down by terrible service. All aspects of the soft product seem to be defined by stinginess.
I have never encountered such unhappy reception staff worldwide - a poor reflection of otherwise wonderful Slovenian hospitality encountered everywhere else in the country. Reception staff are bothered by mere existence of guests - whether at check-in, asking for recommendations, or asking about hotel facilities. The only "smile" (at best a smirk) was seen when checking out.
Expect one-word replies to any queries- getting any further information would be like pulling teeth. When asking receptionist about bike-rental facilities at the hotel, was sharply told that bike rental was only available to hotel guests despite clearly being a hotel guest myself.
Made the terrible mistake of forgetting my keycard in the room one day. When asking for a replacement card, was scolded loudly "Why, where is your key?!" After establishing that the key was just left behind in the room and not lost, receptionist finally and begrudgingly cut a new keycard.
Bathroom only stocks 3-in-1 hand/body/hair liquid soap.
Finally, despite unseasonably warm weather in Bled, aircon was completely shut off with no possibility of turning on, and when inquiring about this was sarcastically told "if you feel hot just go out".
Hardly the 4* Sup property the hotel claims to be.
