Lovely, quiet spot in downtown Sedona
El Portal is a lovely space hidden off of Hwy 179 near downtown Sedona. The rooms are beautifully decorated with individual themes and there is free parking. The main office offers beverages, yogurt and chocolate chip cookies free to guests as well as wine and beer for sale. The center courtyard has a fire pit which is nice to sit around and warm up while sipping a glass of wine. Our only complaint is that the Wifi signal was very weak. We had a difficult time participating in a zoom call when we were in our room

This place is so magical. The rooms are very spacious and the hotel is covered in lush greenery, it’s very romantic and special. Incredible location to shopping and restaurants, walking distance. It’s definitely a luxury hotel, and dog friendly!

The property was beautiful and well maintained. It was a perfect location and could walk to almost anywhere I wanted to go. The hotel however, was a tough stay. I totally understand that it’s dog friendly, and it’s not the hotel owners fault, but EVERY morning (6am usually) there were several dogs that were allowed to bark incessantly because the owners left them alone despite the numerous signs posted around stating not to leave them unattended. Again, I know it’s not the hotels fault but if you’re going to have a rule and post signs about it...enforce the rule!! Because of this experience, I will never stay at, nor recommend this hotel to anyone ever again!

I loved everything about this cozy hotel. The staff were so accommodating and friendly. Love the little kitchen in lobby where you can make coffee, enjoy complimentary sodas, teas, yogurts, and freshly baked cookies. Alcohol is on an honor system which is so convenient. You feel so welcomed unlike larger generic hotels. Wonderfully decorated.

Went up to celebrate wife's birthday. Hotel is perfectly situated to allow walking to most shops and restaurants. Very quaint hotel, bed mattress was comfortable, but could feel several of the springs. Would highly recommend for the location, staff, and views.

We have been to Sedona several times in the past but have never stayed at the El Portal. What a pleasant surprise it was to stay here. I can’t imagine staying anywhere else when we visit. It is in a great location but feels so private. The owners are very responsive and sitting in their lobby feels like you are in your own home. I highly recommend a stay at El Portal.
