The property is beautiful. The staff is wonderful. The food in the café by the pool was good and so was the food at the beach club. The food in the restaurant leaves a lot to be desired. If they have over 50 people in the resort they serve buffet which is awful. Under 50 its al-a-carte which is better but the choices are limited. They have a Japanese restaurant and it is ok. I was celebrating my 55th birthday but even at my age I stay up past 8 pm. The café by the pool closes before 7 pm and the bar doesn't serve food. They have the habit of running out of stuff. The menu is so limited I don't understand why that kept happening. My suggestion is to hire a chef manager, expand the menu and hire a event coordinator. You will not build a following with a lackluster experience especially for what it costs. We were at the Sunset Plaza last year and wish we had have gone back there instead of wasting the money on this resort. Honestly Marriott is not living up to their brand of superior service with this resort and should probably have a GM to come out and do a overhaul. The maid service was hit or miss. I think they may have a staffing issue. The saving grace for this review not being scathing is the fact that the staff was very nice.
