About this home
Cara, a gorgeous little cottage in the countryside of Daylesford is perfect for those looking to experience the lake and explore the best of what Daylesford has to offer. This cozy house is one of Daylesford’s oldest little properties and has been renovated to offer 2 Bedrooms each with an Ensuite and enough space for up to 4 guests each night!
The Daylesford cottage is a historical gem and can be seen in photographs from the 1800s. Cara has always been a place to come home and feel at peace; With the recent makeover, Cara now offers modern-day appliances and comforts while still maintaining links back to her roots. Newspapers found under the cottage are pinned upon its walls like a tapestry of memories and old posts for tying horses can be seen out front waiting patiently for their duty once again.
Cara's 2 queen bedrooms can each be split into single beds, and is popular with families, couples on holiday together or four friends seeking an adventure in Daylesford. Each Ensuite features a shower, vanity and toilet, and the step-down to the bathroom has handrails to assist guests who may need mobility support.
The dining/living flows to the full kitchen, with picture windows and French doors onto a deck that offers gorgeous views of the lake. Imagine the smell of freshly brewed coffee while listening to your favourite tunes as you cook up a delicious breakfast! You can even grill up some ribs while watching the game on a large, flat-screen TV and stream movies with the complimentary WIFI.
Heating and cooling are comfortably covered by the split system, panel heaters and wood fire. We provide guests with a firewood starter kit for thier needs upon arrival.
The lake is one reason why this town has become a tourist destination. The tranquil waters and scenic views of nature are just what anyone needs to escape from the hustle-and-bustle that comes with city life. Those who come to Cara quickly find themselves escaping into their own little world, at the bottom of the garden, beckoning for a morning stroll around her shores – I spend about 30 minutes and it's very pleasant!
This charming cottage is a relic of Lake Daylesford's early history. Originally built in the 1800s, this tiny house still stands strong today as it has for hundreds of years despite its age and size. It is thought that the home was originally used to store supplies and became an overnight refuge for weary travellers who could not make their way over the historic bridge that would have taken them back across the lake at nightfall.
The small white cottage sat overlooking picturesque Lake Daylesford from afar with nothing around except grassy hillsides leading right up to where they stand; there were no other dwellings or buildings nearby seeming all too serene and peaceful away from civilization. Today Cara is set amongst a number of historic and popular accommodation villas and holiday homes, the proximity of The Boathouse Restaurant, is a “must visit” where you are sure to enjoy a gorgeous lunch or dinner overlooking the lake
