Exceptional
With all the nonsense about flights I booked three nights here prior to a long planned fourteen nights in Koln. Great mid-price hotel just across from Hbf. Special advantage is the free public transport pass. Will always use this 'Intercity' in Hamburg.

I only liked the location and the free transport ticket. But hospitality was not at the standard and did not notice that it is a four stars hotel, service was not good.

The only thing that I didn't like is that cleaner started too early in the morning making a noise outside my door. Clanging bottles and waking me everyday. The check-out was 12pm and think a later start would be better.

Excellent location. Good overall. The one thing I had issues with, was heat. Initially my room was cold so I had to ask for an extra blanket - cheerfully supplied. The next day I called for a specialist who quickly determined that, for some reason, the heat had been turned off. The ancient wall control made it difficult to control the temperature. But on the whole this was a good experience at a good price.

The hotel is well situated and part of a well equipped chain. The hauptbahnhoff Intercity had two problems. 36 hours without internet which is unacceptable in a business hotel (a problem at headquarters in Frankfurt). Staff did not warn guests checking in hoping that repairs would happen quickly. A second elevator never functioned during my stay. Breakfast is adequate but not up to competitive standards. Staff was helpful and polite and embarrassed by their circumstances.
