Not If You Want A Good Night’s Sleep
Reception staff couldn’t have been more helpful... Due to a sprained ankle, my partner was in a wheelchair for the weekend - because of this, on our arrival, we were allocated a ground floor room to make our stay easier. Perhaps owing to this last minute change, the room seemed not to be made up properly. (Eg no pillowcases, a somewhat dank atmosphere.) the toilets/showers in the corridor opposite were reasonably clean, although one of the ladies’ toilets did not flush. All of this we accepted in a “get what you pay for” frame of mind. However, night time brought discomforts more difficult to disregard. Around 3:00am a group of about ten young people congregated in the ladies’ washroom opposite our room, and shrieked and partied until about 5:00am, the answers to their quiz echoing clearly audible down the corridor. At no point did any YMCA member of staff come to ask them to quieten down. Next came a problem with the plumbing somewhere above our room - loud hissing and rushing for about half an hour, followed by the clanking and banging of someone trying to fix the problem. There were then perhaps two hours of silence before it was time to get up. All in all, a horrendous night.

Uncomfortable, but cheap and well located
Can't beat the location, within 5 minutes walk of Bath Abbey, and it was relatively cheap. However, being a hostel not a hotel the facilities in the room were very basic. My bed was terrible. The metal supporting bars were nearly all bent. I move my matress onto the floor in the middle of my first night, which proved to be more comfortable. I was also disappointed by the lack of tea-making facilities. I didn't expect these in the room, but there was no kettle in the common-room area. Hot water was available from a drinks machine, but this was not always working.

Staffs are very friendly and helpful, the location is excellent. If have provided the breakfast is perfect. Also the WiFi service should improve as can’t connect in the room.

The bed was full of mites - do not recommend! I stayed at the YMCA in early February 2022 for 1 night in room 315, and whilst the room looked clean, the bedding & mattress was ridden with mites. It was intolerable. I ended up lying on a towel with another towel as a blanket and the window wide open all night. It wasn't bedbugs, no bites at all, and nothing visible to the eye, but I could feel mites all over me, head to toe. I was late for work and had to leave quickly in the morning, but I called back later on, to let them know that no one should stay in the room until it's dealt with and that id like a refund, please. I wasn't angry, just thought they needed to know and that I deserved reimbursement. I ended up having to leave work 3.5hours early because I couldn't function from lack of sleep. They have refused to give me a refund which is utterly unacceptable, citing, they didn't find anything and that I should have told them before leaving. This is not how you should treat customers. I have canceled all future bookings (1 a week for 2 months) I DO NOT recommend this hostel.
