6/10 Good

Run down hotel in a good location.
This hotel could be great if a bit of money was spent on it and staff trained. The hotel is run down, the carpet in the room was dirty and the bathroom floor was sticky. The restaurant and bar were nicely decorated but we were advised upon check in that the restaurant was full for dinner the night we stayed. It was a Sunday night and not much else was open for dinner so we ended up eating in a pub only to find when we went to the hotel bar that we could have eaten in there. At breakfast the table was set with a dirty mug which the waitress attempted to pour coffee in. There is a £6 per night charge for parking, which isn't a lot, but I begrudge paying for parking when staying the night in a hotel.

Not value for money
Very expensive stay for one night. The hotel needs freshening up and bringing up to the 21st century. Bedroom was on the ground floor which was no problem but was very tired. It is amazing what a lick of paint and new mattresses/furniture will do. Average breakfast but had yo chase for tea/coffee. Sandwiches were tasty and good value.

Great position and could be a great hotel but rooms are a bit tired. Old furniture old carpets. Nothing actually wrong just looks like it needs money spent on it and needs a bit more love. Disappointing they thought it was a good idea to be repainting the corridors in high season

Nice staff, lounge, location, bit overpriced
The hotel's location is great and the lounge, balcony and terrace are lovely. The bar staff were great and the bar meals were good. The breakfast was very good and there was a nice range available. Parking is onsite and £6 a day which is pretty reasonable for paid parking. The rooms were nice but rather worn. The chairs in some rooms were worn through, the curtains in my room were too short and didn't meet in the middle and the shower drain was broken. The kitchen fans were really noisy and woke me at 5:45 so avoid rooms over that part of the hotel. So I would say it was a nice stay, but overpriced.
