I stayed at ABode Glasgow for two nights in September, with several friends, in 3 rooms. While this older building could use some love and attention (walls and floors around the reception, and in the rooms need some maintenance and care), the staff were helpful, very friendly, accessible, and efficient. The bed was very comfortable, the size of the room large, with high ceilings, a lot of natural light. Bathroom was spacious, had a bathtub, good shower, and was mostly well cleaned. Unfortunately, there was a stale, unpleasant smell in my room, coming from outside. Not too terrible, or completely overwhelming, but noticeable. (My room faced an alley behind hotel, and the odor may have come from the hotel's kitchen; the windows were open when I arrived.) My friends had the room next door, *without* that odor.
Location was central enough for good nearby dining (Mini Grill). Relatively easy to get to Kelvingrove and the West End by foot and/or Uber. A 25 minute walk to Finnieston St.: three excellent restaurants over there (Crab Shakk, Gloriosa, and Unalome); a nice natural foods grocery with good pastries and coffee drinks, and many shops. (Both areas more bustling and "happening". In the West End, try Perch and Rest Coffee on Otago St.: cozy, cool, charming, very good place for coffee and treats, and Cottonrake Bakery for a variety of brilliant, delicious pastries on Great Western Rd. near Kelvingrove Park and the Glasgow Botanic Gardens.)
