As clean as it is old
The building is 100 years old. And yet somehow it is still incredibly clean.

Our first room had some plumbing issues and the bottom fitted sheet looked like it either was dirty or noticeably stained. The front desk sent maintenance to fix the sink and ultimately helped us move to a different room, so all's well that ends well! We really enjoyed the food and drinks from the Lobby Bar.

Just visit, don't stay.
We didn't get any sleep the first night because the ac was broke. When we called down to the desk the lady working the front desk was rude. So we spent the next day exhausted from no sleep. There was no offer of any compensation. This is after we called down and asked for the mini fridge and the front desk lady huffed and then said they were out, only for me to say something when we went down and the gentleman working the desk for us the mini fridge with no problem. We were also unable to eat in any of the restaurants, they were booked solid, this would have been good to know since we were staying there for the history and the FOOD. So we spent way more than we normally would on a hotel just so we could be exhausted and have to go find places to eat. Top five worst experiences with a hotel.

Beautiful Hotel - Loved Our Room
We loved our room - spacious and clean! The bathroom was also spacious and had a nice size shower. The hotel lobby was beautiful and had comfortable seating. The only complaint we have is one of the restaurant/bar hosts was not courteous at all. I asked him a couple of very easy questions and his responses were very short and he acted as though I was bothering him. We also waited a long time for a server to come...and had to get up and request a server for the second time!

Wonderful hotel
The staff is so friendly. I arrived quite late, almost midnight, and was greeted pleasantly and my room was issued to me quickly. The shuttle was fantastic as well. The Room was huge and the bed was so comfortable. The shower was updated and beautiful.

A COVID travel experience
I return to my ancestral home occasionally for family visits, and the Brown has always been our go-to hotel in Louisville. The bad: no daily room service and extremely limited restaurant service. The good is the limited food and dining choices are still superb and the hotel staff is friendly, professional, and as accommodating as they can be. Sadly, most of my disappointments are related to COVID restrictions and the decrease in occupancy those restrictions have caused. I just hope The Brown and Downtown can both bounce back in the future. (BTW, the Hot Brown is still the best in the world)
