10/10 Exceptional

Beautiful location, friendly staff
The location is great, not too far from the town centre and about 30 min drive to Windermere. It was quiet, didn’t hear any traffic. The bar/restaurant was nice and modern. We had breakfast and sat at the window with nice views. The drinks were a bit pricey but I guess that what you pay for hotels. Our room was big, stand alone shower and a big bathtub. We had a super king bed which was so comfortable. There were bathrobes in the wardrobe and a coffee machine but couldn’t figure out how to use it. Unfortunately the last couple of nights, the guests staying next door were loud and had their tv blaring. I could hear them snoring. So maybe the walls are a little too thin as I heard every word of their conversation. Overall the staff were very pleasant. Parking on the premises which was sometimes hard to get as it was always full. It is a lovely hotel would stay here again.

Fantastic Stay
A great place to stay, lovely location, friendly, welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. Food is amazing, nice terrace to sit and relax looking over at the views. Just over a mile to the town centre of Kendal, a nice walk. Only downside was if you use room service they have an extra charge of £5 for tray service!!

Not gay friendly and unclean
Unclean bed head was thick with dust walls peeling with paint as seen in photos. All this after being questioned about a double bed with two males checking in. Then when i wanted to add nreakfast i was told it was fully booked. Homophobic comments and an unclean hotel for £135 shocking

Ok not what I expected
Well overall I wouldn’t rate this as a 4* star hotel. It was more like a 2-3*. Not many facilities available such as a spa only a swimming pool. Initially we had problems with our room on arrival due to a strong gutter smell. However, when we told the reception they changed the room for us quickly - but it was disruptive as we had only just arrived and travelled from afar. The lift was broken and was never fixed during our stay. I’m glad I didn’t bring a family member who has walking difficulty otherwise this would have been very problematic. Our second room was average there was a smell again but better than the first room, there were stains on the carpet. On our arrival we were told the swimming pool opening times but weren’t told it was closed due to the bank holiday. So we were turned away from this facility. Breakfast was average we asked for veg sausages and these arrived burnt. We didn’t get any more after this. I don’t think I will be staying in this hotel again but I honestly expected better from BW hotels as I stayed in one of their chain hotels in London and that was fantastic! We were quite disappointed with this one. But can’t fault the staff or actual service.

Beautiful setting
Set in beautiful landscaped gardens atop a hill side with lovely views across Kendal. The hotel was modern and comfortable. Everywhere was spotlessly clean and well maintained. The staff were well presented, friendly and very helpful. The double bedroom was spacious enough and the bed very comfortable. The only downside was that the walls were extremely thin and we could hear the person in the next rooms full phone call with his partner and even her replies. Other than that I would highly recommend a stay in this lovely hotel.

Loved it been before and that’s why I returned . I came to the hotel solo but I always felt comfortable and safe staff very welcoming. Breakfast was fab and plenty to choose from .
