The location was great. The room was old and tiny. Not what I expected

Should be great, the staff are but not everything
First the positives and the biggest positive is the staff - brilliant, every one of them. Second, the mattress - supremely comfortable. Third - response, there was an issue with food, not major but an issue. Anybody can make a mistake but what matters is how it is dealt with and it was dealt with over and above any expectation. Top marks. So where does it lose? I paid extra for superior room with climate control/air con. The lowest temperature possible was 19c - that’s not air con, that’s heating. I like a cold room and find most hotels in UK too hot, hence paying for air con. As it is I slept with windows open, luckily on 8th floor and mid week so not too much street noise but not wholly satisfactory. Second down - shower room; no space at all to put anything, not even your toothpaste. Cold tap was wiggly and shower lacked pressure. This was a refurbed room - looked nice (if compact) but not very practical and would benefit from a shaving/magnifying mirror. As it happens,I’m back in area again in a few weeks and in spite of all this would stay again, based on staff and mattress - but only if I can have a high up room again.

Great central location
One night stay in town, great location, big comfy bed, complimentary wine on arrival, would definitely stay again, Starbucks next door but one for breakfast, only downside was no late bar for a nightcap

Perfect location
Was greeted at the door by the doorman, it was way to find reception to check in. Once checked in I was issued with a room card, a room number and directions to the room. Once I located the room I tried the room card but the room would not unlock. I then had to return to reception to query the room card. I was advised that the room number and card issued was incorrect. I was issued a new room number, card and further directions. This door did open correctly. Other that this slight problem which was quickly resolved with great customer service, my partner and I enjoyed our stay. The hotel location was perfect as it was in walking distance to most areas we wanted to view. There was also large choice is restaurant right outside the hotel doors.
