Fine accommodations, probably wouldn't stay again
Queen Kapiolani had both pros and cons: Pros: Onsite restaurant, coffee shop, walkable to Waikiki beach and nearby attractions, staff was excellent and helpful. All of our interactions with the staff were top-tier. Cons: No perks for hotel guests at onsite restaurant or coffee shop, the only parking option was $53/night valet - I did not find out about this until we arrived. There were offsite paid parking options as well that you need to walk to. There were no free parking options and no onsite self-parking options. I also asked about doing valet the first night (we were exhausted after a 12-hour travel day), but then doing a cheaper offsite option another day and they told me the valet opt-in would just charge us for every night of our stay. That was disappointing and $350 we didn't expect to spend. We checked in late since we were traveling from pretty far East and that led to us being put in a "mezzanine" room on the lowest level (level 2.5 between the restaurant and the 4th floor) that had a lot of street noise and was too small for our suitcases. I requested a room change and they were able to move us to the same room on a higher floor (8th) after 2 nights for our final 4 nights for no extra charge. The second room was so much better and much bigger. Another bummer was the daily "resort fee" for this long list of "benefits" for hotel guests. The only benefit worthwhile was the beach towels/chairs. Everything else we'd already packed or didn't use.

2/10 Poor

Not clean and not worth it
Very misleading photos on this hotel's site. They should be chargiung $60 a night, not $300. You can find five star hotels for this price with beach access just down the street. This hotel has astroturf around the pool, smells like wet dogs, has no parking, is loud, and is very dated. Don't recommend this at all.

8/10 Very Good

Decent Value
Beds fairly comfortable and staff was excellent. Condition of property is good for its age. Our room did not have a coffee maker or kettle (may be available on request?). Not s fan of the poor quality Chinese toiletries that you see in many budget hotels such as this-so be prepared if it’s important part of the stay. Facilities are obviously dated, (rusty bathroom hinges, old fixtures) but not enough to deter a return booking. Not particularly family friendly. The location has its pros and cons. There is an ABC market store and Starbucks within a few minutes (the hotel also has average coffee and restaurant on-site but we found them to be average). This part of town seems to have more of a homeless community and the sidewalks and overall vibe was a bit grungy. Overall, staff and decent location are the highlights here-come with realistic expectations for a value stay.

Uncomfortable
Dirty Towels, Ant Problem, Hair All over the place. Stayed here before and it was great but the most recent time was a bit surprised of the condition the room was in.
