Very good 8.0
would stay again but would expect more next time
Staff were all amazing and very helpful, no fault there. We were however dissapointed at some of the finer detail. We upgraded to have one of the best rooms in the hotel with balcony etc as well as some other extras but we didnt get those. The room was meant to come with bathrobes and there were none, asked reception but they didnt have any more. We also had no tea or coffe facilities, we had the machine but nothing to ho with it so instead of a morning coffee in bed we had to get up and go to the reception as we couldnt get any answer using the phone at that busy time. Staff were 10 out of 10 but, also gave us a late checkout which was great.

A little on the grotty side!
I had booked this stay using our Tesco Rewards vouchers and knew that it was a basic room that we had booked. I did, however, expect far more from a Mercure! The chairs in our room were fit for the bin, the socket did not work, carpets were frayed and the room and bathroom were pretty grotty. Simple things like replacing the bathroom silicone would go a long way to tidying up the place. Simple and basic is absolutely acceptable but I would have expected things to have been better maintained. We booked in for dinner at the hotel restaurant and were disappointed when we were only told that there were certain dishes unavailable only after trying to order them. We overheard this happening a number of different times, surely telling your guests at the same time as handing them their menu would have been better? Dinner itself was perfectly pleasant, as was breakfast.

Disappointing
Sateyed in plenty of Mercure hotels in the past, this one did not live up to expected standard. A real shame considering the location. Room was comfortable and clean with decent bed - but TV did not work and the shower was barely a trickle. On informing reception, was met with a shrug and they would tell maintenance. Staff appeared fed up dealing with people with issues that they could not solve. Room service after 10pm only offer pizza, despite having been told in advance that a full service was available.

Central property. Quick check in. Booked a room for two persons but only enough soap and shampoo for one person. Then no spoons or stirrers for the tea. Had to keep asking for things. Again asked for tea and was told they are very busy so it will take half an hour. They didn’t bring it at all. Asked for a late check out and told £10 per hour. This is why I marked the hotel down. Room ok except bathroom door didn’t lock. Most if the staff were nice and friendly. Central area. Minutes away from station.

Poor 2.0
Wouldn’t stay again
The hotel website wasn’t working properly so breakfast timings were unclear until arrival. Creaky ceiling, poor extractor fan, electric shocks from the light switch. Not good.
Phil, gb1 night business trip
Poor 2.0
Absolutely avoid 100%
Tiny room, dirty, unhelpful staff who werent willing to help in anyway, drinks way overpriced, beds uncomfortable was like lying on bricks.
