Perth shopping guide – where to shop and what to buy

Find a place to stay

There is definitely a trend when it comes to shopping in Perth, as extensive, chic and larger than life shopping malls pepper the city like polka dots.  The outlets are a thing of convenience and mean that searching for an item is easier than ever.  If outdoor excursions or local produce is more your thing, don’t you worry, as the city has plenty of food, craft and clothing markets too.  Secluded streets make an appearance as well, with King Street providing a high-class hideaway where all the big names in fashion gather in force.

King Street

Luxury brands and high end names blazon across the front of shops on King Street. Nestled in the quaint narrow street are big names like Louis Vuitton and Gucci, where the season’s finest and most creative designs are available. A short wander on and you’ll find local designers too, with the likes of Melanie Greensmith from Wheels & Dollbaby making an appearance. Away from the jostling streets of Perth’s high streets, King Street is a quiet respite where savvy shoppers can come to enjoy a day’s retail therapy.

Harbour Town

Harbour Town is an extensive shopping outlet that’s a cut above the rest. Just a short 20 minute walk from Perth’s CBD, Harbour Town is easily accessible and boasts an impressive list of shops on-site. Whatever you’re looking for, Harbour Town will have it, from delicate jewels to hard-wearing sports equipment, best-selling books to a stylish new painting to hang in your home.

As colorful as its vast array of clothes, Fremantle’s shopping areas are vibrant and bustling retail hotspots. In its center is a pedestrian friendly precinct that is filled with high street stores as well as more niche options. At the specialist gift shops and souvenir stores, shoppers can find a unique piece to take home with them, and the same goes for the boutique clothing stores and art galleries. Don’t miss the iconic Fremantle markets, where fresh food and hand crafted items are available.

Whitford City

Perth is packed with malls and outlets, but the ultimate shopping complex has to be Westfield Whitford City. The uber center is crammed with stores of every variety. There are clothes shops, technology stores, shoe retailers, jewelry, home ware, health stores, restaurants and more. With everything under one roof, there’ll be no need to go anywhere else, and because of the well-known high street names brandished above the doorways, you know you’ll be getting reliable, quality items.

Subiaco is arguably Perth’s most prestigious shopping district. A mere five kilometres from the city center and it’s a different experience altogether. Gone are the over-sized shopping malls and in their place are independent, local and friendly street side stores. Souvenirs can be found here in abundance, with home ware and craft shops everywhere. There are over 70 fashion stores to pick from, so your style, size and budget are more than catered for. The district’s delicious gourmet food joints will no doubt keep your shopping spree fuelled too.

Claremont Quarter

A shopping center with added class, the Claremont Quarter is the ideal outing for those looking for some high-fashion items within a convenient and clean space. The center has a stylish and roomy interior to match the prominent designer names it holds. There are over 130 boutique stores and cafés, including David Jones, as well as a fresh food market. With 6.8 million visitors a year, you know it’s going to be good.
